So I wanted to use this Minecraft language pack for Beta 1.8.1 (cuz why not), and I can't figure out how to get it working.

The contents can be found in the attachment.

When I add the contents into the .jar for Beta 1.8.1, it automatically replaces them, so how would I get this working?

Test it loading it as texture pack

That's already how I have it, it doesn't work.

Ok lol I might have not said that much.

The language pack I linked is one of the oldest available mods on Curseforge, and I'm trying to use them because of that.

Using another pack would completely destroy the purpose of doing all this.

Crap, well I'm stuck. YouTube is only providing how to MAKE them and not use them.

Also, I think I know how, but it's doing stuff.

I think you're supposed to place it in the .jar file of Minecraft, but it keeps deleting it and replacing it so if you could figure out how to stop that, that would be good.

I also test it with creating a custom 1.8.1 with adding the files into that jar - the problem is, the launcher updates the jar to the default one

if I lock this file to non-writable, the client crashes

try deleting a "META-INF" folder if found. see if that works

I also did that - for me it does not work

I know in the past this worked - I think the new launcher changed that

Also what file did you lock?

The launcher crashes because it is unable to open this file

I did everything in the guide. Of course it didn't work.

Sry for the late reply lol i was doing stuff.

anways here it is.

first, open up the version you want to use and play it, then close out

do method 2.

do its first three steps

then open up the custom .jar with winrar, and open up the pack/mod with winrar, so two winrars

drag the contents of the pack/mod into the .jar.

do the rest of the steps for method 2

now go and click play! it should work
