-Just Enough Items (for recipes and cheating things in if need be) or Roughly Enough Items if you using the Fabric Modloader (applies to 1.14+ versions) instead of Forge,
-a minimap mod (to make it easier to tell where you have been and mark points of interest) something like VoxelMap or Xaero's,
-many people would suggest Optifine or Sodium as performance mods (mods that help with performance and tweaking what you do/don't want graphically to be there, things like clouds, the way water textures are presented as transparent or not as some examples or allowing for Shaders).
Those are my go to mods besides Locatebiome when it comes to 1.15 and before but 1.16+ already has it (but that's more for Mod Reviews in my case not Let's Plays). But otherwise just pick whatever you want from adventure, tech, magic, biome, tool & armour and more to see what interests you. There is plenty on Curseforge (and for safe mod downloading). Just make sure to look at Mod Install tutorials first. But if you just want a modpack to make things easier go with a launcher (I explain below)
There is a few streaming mods like ones that allow for letting other players know, allowing chat input with the game I think (Streamer vs. Chat is the one I'm referring to).
But if you want something simpler go with a modpack that sounds interesting to you and use either the FTB, Technic or Curseforge launcher and see what catches your eye. Modpacks can differ from Kitchensink (your just mods thrown in), Quest Based (usually teach you how mods work, some can have recipes changes and be hard so make sure if it says it's it's for veterans/hardcore to avoid those unless you really want a challenge and are familiar with the mods) and more.
i want to start playing minecraft and streaming; i’ve never done either before. what are some mods you can’t live without?
Essentials I find are mods like:
