So, I had downloaded a mod from 9minecraft. I looked it up and saw that the site was full of viruses, so i stupidly panicked and put the mod in my recycling folder, then emptied it. Then i remembered that that doesnt fully delete it, and there might still be some of it left. Am i fine? Is the Voyager Shaders from 9minecraft safe? I'm genuinely freaking out as i don't want viruses on my pc. any help would be amazing
Edit: the title was supposed to say Voyager Shaders*
9Minecraft to my knowledge/experience (in the past) doesn't put viruses in it's hosted content (as far as I know) but other repost sites do (obviously looking at the list from StopModReposts). That being so I don't recommend going to sites like that as they 1.Have outdated files, 2.Repost the content without the creator's permission and usually intend on user downloading them and having ads on the page to get clicks besides just housing the content they don't own.
If you don't load the shaders/double click it (usually this is more to do with .exe file rather than say a jar or whatever Shaders are as you can't without particular software anyways) or anything you should be fine. I used to use 9Minecraft mods before I knew about Curseforge (I use only PlanetMinecraft and Curseforge now as they are safe and the mods are uploaded by the original creators) and I will use 9Minecraft mods IF and only IF that mod is not available for older versions on any other site due to them not having viruses and if I can't find an archive of it on archive.org. The point with viruses is if it is activated/used, not if it's on your computer just sitting there (I'm pretty sure)
If you don't want to load the shaders that's perfectly fine and probably recommended, but best to get it from the original creator on Minecraft Forums or that creator's website instead. I don't use Shaders but I have come across Shader devs using Ad sites and I hate to deal with those (that and I don't have a powerful enough PC/find a need for shaders so I'm not the target audience).
