I have been working on a modpack for myself but noticed it has been unusually laggy, when i realised that even though optifine is installed, shows up in the settings menu, has all the settings available and the zoom function and held lightsource function are all there, the settings themselves do nothing.
the vanilla settings such as turning off clouds and turning particles up and down all work, but any setting added by optifine does nothing, such as turning on or off animations.
i have no idea what to do, as i have no errors or crashes but i still desperately need optifine to reduce the unplayable levels of lag
after a full deletion of optifine, forge, all mods installed, all configs, and any other files from downloads, and then re downloading forge and optifine, the same issue persists

Make sure your using the most up-to-date version of Optifine.

i am, i even re-downloaded it to make sure i had the latest version for my version of minecraft
I forgot to ask, since your using Forge, are you using the .jar file option for Optifine?
