Hello! My family is considering a 2GB plan. I want it to run smoothly and not overtax it. I will have a maximum of five people on a one time (more likely four), and definitely NEED Thaumcraft on there. I know that can be a more intense one, and so I wanted to check if having it AND The Twilight Forest would be too much for this server size. If so, that's fine, we'll just stick with Thaum. But hey, nothing ventured nothing gained.

If it's your family playing, have you considered hosting it locally yourself instead of buying server space? Number of players makes a big difference, and it could be cheaper in the long run. Just ideas.
I agree, I've had a 2 player LAN (years ago as I'm the only one that plays the game now) and it worked out well during 1.7.10 with many mods big mods. A server is more suitable if they are further away these family members or with friends not in your own House (which is a small distance).
The other benefit of a server is if you want people to jump on without the need of the host's device to be on (which can be the drawback of LAN sessions).
