I bought Minecraft Windows 10 edition (version 1.14.30) for my little ones this morning and have been trying to add new textures for about 4 hours now. I have watched and followed many youtube and website tutorials and scoured Google and forums for answers, but nothing works and I don't know enough to know why. I am not very technically literate and no nothing about how Minecraft works, and after reading for half a day now, I'm not any close to understanding.
My goal (other than just understanding the process) was to download the realistic texture pack and something with ray tracing. Similar to this video
If I can't run the amazing lighting, that's fine. I just wanted to see if I could. But they really wanted the realistic looking textures for all the blocks.
I found LB Photo Realism Reload was recommended. That's as far as I got. I downloaded the zip file, extracted it into its own folder, and put it in the file location that all the tutorials said to (starts with %appdata%, ends in resource_pack folder). But it does not show up in my game under Settings>Global Resources. I tried a different mod, Dramatic Skies, as well. Same issue. They do not show up in my game menus. I don't know what I'm doing wrong and I would really appreciate any help if possible. Thanks!
You cannot mod the Bedrock version of Minecraft (doing so on console breaks Sony's/Microsoft's/Nintendo's Terms of Service). The only mods or resource packs that you can use on Bedrock are ones that you download from the Marketplace. If you want to download and use user-created mods and texture packs like LB Photo Realism, you'll want to purchase Minecraft: Java Edition, which allows for a lot more customization.

You have the Bedrock version of MC, the same version run on consoles.
I'm not sure if the Bedrock version can have extra texture / resource packs added. The Java version of MC for the PC definitely can.
Ray Tracing is a new feature that nVidia will be adding to its new video cards in a few months.

Oh...so I cannot add my own mods, only "official" ones from the marketplace?
Or I have to go back and buy the java version of Minecraft?
Just making sure I understand.
