I have more than 100 mods for Minecraft 1.12.2 version.
When I enter to a group of unloaded chunks, the camera moves like when the mouse moves with crazy speed and I don't like it very much. The render distance is 9 chunks, I have set the graphics mod to Fast and I leaved the VBO at On.
I use this argument: -Xmx8320M -Xms4096M -Xmn512M -XX:MaxMetaspaceSize=512M -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC
I feel this isn't enough to reduce the lag spikes.
What kind of argument should I use if I don't want to use Optifine with mods which doesn't very compatible?
I'm not too sure, I've only ever tweaked the memory aspects of JVM arguments and otherwise just minimised the mod amount to a fair few of those I'll likely use more (or adding more smaller mods and few larger content ones). In 1.14 with Forge I just focus on how many mods and applications I have open as I can't even run Windows well sometimes with Forge (1.12.2 it doesn't behave this way as 1.13+ Forge changed a fair amount) and about 30 or so (for spotlighting purposes not survival or creative) whilst Fabric I have no problem and it's like running an older version of the game with Forge (Fabric is lighter and many of the big mods work out pretty well too but it depends of course on what mods, what version of the game and more obviously).
There 'was' a guide that made things really clear but I can't find it anymore and when I thought I did even through Internet Archive it wasn't available so that's unfortunate. I'd look around to see what you can find on what ones do what and scale it accordingly to consider how much the mods add to the experience compared to Vanilla or if they are big content mods mostly compared to smaller QOL or tweak like.
