I'm looking to make a mod that changes how music is played. The times at which music is triggered would most likely stay the same, but particularly I'd like to change what music file plays based off of what biome the player is currently located in. e.g If it's sunrise and the player is in a plains biome, a random sound file in the folder "plains" will be chosen and played — or it could be even more specific such as "plains/sunrise", "plains/noon", etc.
I've never made a mod before, so I'm not exactly sure where to begin with trying to modify this. My initial plan was to find MC's code for handling music, and then modify + replace it with the system I have in mind, though I don't know at all where that would be located or how to query for the current time/biome.
Not sure really, I'd recommend checking the Fabric Discord as most Fabric tutorials I'd usually suggest don't cover this sort of thing for biome/situational music (or any mods that have a music like focus, them being MineAmp and Start The Music).
I'd check the Fabric Wiki to get an idea how to mod using Fabric (setting up a dev environment) but otherwise the Fabric devs on Discord can point you in the right direction.
