Whenever I find a lucky block mod on curse forge, I download it and it always downloads as a .zip file. I try to convert it to a .jar file but whenever I rename it to .jar and put it into my mods folder it doesn't show any new mod additions to minecraft.
I haven't used the Lucky Blocks mod or its addons, but a little research turns up this, from the official thread for the Lucky Block mod:
Add-ons are user-made additions to the Lucky Block. They add new types of Lucky Blocks with different features. The latest version fully supports add-ons, and provides a Lucky Block add-on folder in .minecraft/addons/lucky_block. If the add-on supports the latest version, simply place it in that folder.
That's probably why the add-ons you find on CurseForge are zip files instead of jar files, and why dropping them in the "mods" folder doesn't work. Also, even when they do work, I'm guessing they won't show as separate mods in the Forge mod list. Some of the addons on CurseForge include installation instructions like this, some don't. I also notice they are categorized as "Customizations" rather than "Mods" if you look carefully at the header.
I got it, Download the lucky block mod/.zip file from http://www.minecraftascending.com/projects/lucky_block/lucky_block.html then put it into the mods folder. Then go download the lucky block mod you want and there will automatically be an addons folder in the %appdata% then .minecraft. Inside it will say lucky block and then put the .zip of the lucky block mod into the folder and boom. May have been a bit confusing but at least I got it.
