I don't know if this is the spot to do this, but I searched around a little bit and couldn't find a datapack section, so I picked the modding development, since some datapacks are kind of like mods. So I am trying to use this datapack by TheBalliBoys, but they made it in an earlier minecraft version. 1.9 to be precise. In the instructions, they say that you can use it for anything from 1.9 and above. But I don't think that it is quite working properly. Since it is an older version, they say to put it into the "data" folder. I tried both methods of the datapack folder and the data folder. I made the datapack and it was enabled in the game, so I know I made the datapack right, but the code didn't work, so then I tried to put it into the data folder, and that didn't work, so I think there is a problem with the code. I don't know a ton about 1.13 code, so if anyone would take the time to look at the code and tell me what is wrong, it would be much appreciated! Thanks!
Here is the video describing what this datapack should do:
You can download the datapack from the YouTube video
The problem probably lies with changed command syntax. Over certain versions mojang changes how commands work, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot like in 1.13. This is good as it allows for commands to be much stronger but it often breaks a lot of things made beforehand. I would suggest either learning commands and updating the pack your self, or contact the original creator of the pack.
Might give it a go and see what happens. But Mechanization was a 1.12.2 thing before 1.13 as a datapack so it's not uncommon or seems strange to me once I found that out.
From what I understand you tried. You used the data folder. From what I know to install datapacks, you put the named datapack (for example) 'Mechnization' into the /datapacks folder, and if it needs a resourcepack, put that in the resourcepacks folder. So the name of the datapack 'Mechnization' is the folder that 'contains' the data folder, and alll the other folders/files datapacks use to work. I am trying to understand the code/folder structure myself by creating one with tutorials besides just understanding how they are installed which is pretty easy though, but only getting bits and pieces so far.
/reload is a good command besides quitting the world your in, and restarting the world up again, but either is recommended.
/datapack list is good to know if the datapack is loaded or not. If it's not, try experimenting to make it get 'noticed'.
If the datapack states there is commands needed with the /function for example, it's best to look into them if the datapack requires you to use them to start it up.
But I am talking about 1.13 logic here, not 1.9, so I'd have to work out how the 1.9 or even Mechnization's 1.12.2 methods work to be sure of this honestly for these 'datapacks' or 'script mods' (I think of them as) I don't know.
Otherwise try the original creators obviously for help.
