As any old minecraft player would know, 1.7.10 is like frikin' nearly 4 years old, who would want to use that terrible version in 2018. I also say that the mods are outdated and thanks to some developers, it is actually worth a shot. But to me, it is complete crap. So thats why I am on 1.12.2 which is millions and quintillion times better. If you agree leave a reply. Here is a list of all the mods you can have so much fun in, these mods are for 1.12.2 and not availible for 1.7.10.
There are a few mods like Carpenter's Blocks and Railcraft that haven't released yet for 1.12.2 that might encourage sticking with 1.7.10 for players who are strongly attached to them, but there are also a number of mods like Animania (and possibly the others you listed above, I haven't double-checked all of them to confirm) that don't have 1.7.10 versions, or like Millenaire that have new features/bugfixes in 1.12.2. I hesitate to declare one or the other as inherently "better", but personally I prefer 1.12.2 now.

There are almost no cool and big adventure mods for 1.12.2. That's why I'm making a 1.7.10 modpack for me and my friends. When 1.17 will be released, people like me will still prefer 1.12.2 because then there will be more good mods for this version. Most modders make mods with latency, that's why my favorite mods are still for 1.7.10, not for 1.12.2. But for now we can use mods like Future things and more or Et Futurum to feel like we are playing 1.12.2, not 1.7.10. Unfortunately. they don't add everything from new versions and some things are bugged. But hey, it's something. Anyway, 1.7.10 is better imo. But it's harder to make modpacks with this version.
If you think that 1.7.10 is a "terrible old version" I still exclusively play on (as in having never upgraded at all) and develop mods for 1.6.4 - someday I'll be releasing an update for my main mod, "TheMasterCaver's World", which will be the biggest update by far in its 4+ year history (compared to TMCWv4 there will be at least 5 times more new blocks alone), even including some 1.13 features (it is sort of like Et Futurum in that it backports some newer features, though many have been modified as I see fit and some are only the same in name, and most of the content is my own ideas; a better mod to compare it to would be Better Than Wolves, which was created because the developer was dissatisfied with the development of the game, for example, I can never play vanilla 1.7+ because of what they did to the underground in that version, the exact opposite of what all of my mods do).
I also see no reason why a mod should have to be updated; if I ever did update it I would replace much of the vanilla game rather than adapt to it so it would be basically the same thing (plus some features I don't care about, like stained glass; I would have already added it if I really wanted it and with better textures, similar to how my mod replaces some vanilla textures and some others that I took from newer versions, like sea grass, were edited), and you can find mods that add just about anything that has ever been added to vanilla in one way or another (with every new update there are people who accuse Mojang of ripping off a mod). There are even mods that add ocean content (a lot more than Mojang is adding) and even change the way water renders around partial blocks.
Hello, I`m quite new to Minecraft Forge, however, it doesn`t seem to work for me. I have the latest Forge but it doesnt seem to download any new mods, the mod list just shows 4 mods which are Minecraft, Minecraft Coder Pack, Forge Mod Loader, and Minecraft Forge. Can someone point me to a thread that can help, and my computer is quite old, it runs on Windows 7 or 8.

Can you make a mod that forces minecraft 1.12.2 to work like in minecraft 1.7.10 or 1.6.4 (mechanically speaking)?
It is a pain to try to play minecraft 1.12.2 with mods in an old computer and using windows 32-bits... The annoying message "java has run out of memory" pops massively and without any possible solve, forcing you to play with small or few mods.
I like play old versions (specially 1.7.10) due to the mod content that doesn't exist (and never will exist) in new versions, however there are new things that adds new mods, mods that aren't for these old versions or which doesn't have such additions in older versions.
I think both are great. No matter what if the mods offer enough for me I'll go back to 1.7.10 whenever I feel like it, even 1.2.5, 1.4.7/1.5.2, 1.6.2/1.6.4, 1.8/1.8.9, 1.9/1.9.4, 1.10/1.10.2, 1.11/1.11.2 or even 1.12.0 if I'm up for it and I find something of interest or want to replay mods sometimes.
1.12.2 I have had less time with than 1.7.10, 1.7.10 or 1.6.4 being the most time I have spent with mods ever, but with the right version no matter the age with the right mods offered, mainstream, niche or inbetween I enjoy anything to try out and test or do a survival on. But many for 1.7.10 I have gone to are great, or dead or just the odd ones I test that are still updated for 1.7.10 but not often is that the case for me.
I think I voted 1.12.2 but either way both have their offerings and both are tied for the best modded version IMO since it depends on what your after really. I have favourites from both versions making it tough for me to decide really though besides what I voted for.

For people with PC that has a potato like smell to it, (Which means it probably sucks) I strongly recommend 1.7.10. I can not handle over 60 mods in 1.12.2, but in 1.7.10, over 'bout 120 mods is the limit.

- Crayfish Vehicles
- Harry potter
- Shoot-it
-r2's Radios
- Crayfish device mod
- Botania
I think you are mistaken about Botania being unavailable for 1.7.10:

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

It is 100% opinion but I favor the newer generation of mods. I haven't played 1.7.10 in years.

Caling 1.7.10 bad... is this a trollpost?

Love the profile pic
You need to download the mods yourself and put it in your mod folder. Or you can use twitch.
I prefer newer versions as mods also evolve and comparing a large 1.12.2 with 1.7.10, 1.12.2 has more content & more to explore & try
It's like much stuff has more depth to it
But that's my opinion
