Hello,
Not 100% sure if this is relevant to this forums but... I've been looking around on Google trying to figure out how to have more than one mods folder. Not more than 1 installation of mods folder. I literately mean more than one mods, like the mods\<version number> path. It's just kind of frustrating that I can't figure it out and google isn't much of help. So I decided to come to Minecraft forums in hopes of finding my answer. What I want to know is, how can you nest other folders inside the mods folder.

I tried it myself recently, but I don't think so. It would be nice as an option, but I haven't found anything.
As for why someone would want one: I like excessive organization, so I would probably categorize my mods (like libs, mobs, tech, worldgen, etc). I'm sure others have their reasons too.

This is pretty much the reason I'd like multiple mods folders. One isn't really enough and when you have like a ton of mods or different types of mods.
EDIT: I just remembered something... One of the mods I use for servers creates an external folder for the mod libraries it needs and it seems to open other mods there too...
The mods folder is based upon the Profile you create. Making more than one mods under a Profile folder won't work. Forge program control is looking for a specific folder to run mods. There can be several sub-folders in the mods folder created by mods.. This is an option of the mods author and controlled by the mod's .jar file.
Profiles control what version of MC, Forge and mods you want to use. Don't mix and match versions in the same Profile. It can cause crashes and corrupted worlds.

It seems none of the people posted on here understands... What I want is more subfolders inside the mods folder is what I mean. Not mods folder like mods [1.7] or mods [1.9]. I was talking about folders mods/1.7.10 and subfolders of mods/<foldername> like this quote

Having folders for specific mods like libraries, world gen, etc. Not just having the 1.7.10 or <version#> folder to help sort out mods.

I know all about the profiles setting in the launcher provided by Mojang. Mixing mods from different versions wasn't what I was talking about at all. All I was talking about is more sorting for mods like @sweetsosweet replied
Still won't work. Like I said, Forge is looking for specific things. If you make custom subfolders, Forge won't recognize them. If a mod that Forge loads makes subfolders, then that's OK. Forge will recognize them.

Yeah, this is what I've come to understand as well. Considering not many of us would want this (maybe just Nerokin and me, lol) I don't think the Forge team would add the option any time soon either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's just funny for me that Nerokin posted this question pretty much right after I tried to do it myself.

Okay, Since it seems it can't be done. How do you load mods from command line? Whenever I startup any launcher with forge installed I get this line of text in the console log
[##:##:##] [Client thread/INFO]: Found 0 mods from the command line. Injecting into mod discoverer
Just kind of strange on why it says that. I've also tried looking up on Google, how to load mods from command line. Nothing really pops up besides an old mod called "Single Player Commands."
Uploaded a partial client log from start to that line at pastebin.
You could probably make a mod that tells Forge your creating you own subfolders. The mod would need a config file where you would input the folder structure so Forge would know what's going on.

That would work, but sadly... I don't know how to code java. Besides having a mod to create sub folders, Any solutions on loading mods from command line?

I know I'm late but for the people wandering you can have multiple mod folders/groups with this alternative Minecraft launcher https://multimc.org/
