Yes, you can use a version of Rei's minimap for 1.7.10. The download link is in a post many pages into the Rei's Minimap thread in the mods forum on this site. There should be people talking about it near the end of that thread.
If you're looking for a plain minimap, I suggest voxelmap. However, I really suggest using Mapwriter, because it has a full open map like you would see in RPG games. By hitting M you can see a world places with the map filling in where you've been.
i cant get voxlemap or Rei's to work, and i like them both, since they have entities as well i am also makign a pixelmon server for a few friends, but i cant get any to work, reis always shows an error in game at the top right where the map should be (it says in red font something like [Rei's minimap] ERROR:34403) each time the error code is dif, and i tryied googling it, but nothign... Voxel map, i just cant get light loader to work properly. I get a hava error when using forge 1208, something about too many bytes, so i updated to forge 1230 and installed LL on that version, now the game wont even run... like minecraft itself does not start up. im goign to try updating forge to the "latest" i think its like 1258 or something, and try installing LL...
I know there are a lot of different map mods out there, now....despite all of that, I always liked Rei's minimap the best. I know it doesn't have teleport, and maybe it's not the best in certain things, but it generally gives you what you need in a map mod, it looks good, and I always felt it was the most stable in a game.
Yet, the new 1.7.10....for some reason I just can't get it to work in a game, and I don't know why. And it's very disappointing, because it's my favorite. Why isn't it working??
Well Xaero's look good except for one glaring detail....there's no full screen mode. It's the only map mod I've ever seen without a full screen mode. I'm sorry, but I gotta have full screen.
I do miss Rei's underground mode though, which Xaero's happens to have except for not having full screen mode. Maybe I'll try Zan's again. That has a good underground mode as well (atleast last time I remembered), but every time I try to use Zan's it never seems to work for me, for some reason.
The Opis map mod is tolerable, but their underground mode absolutely sucks! Why do they even bother with it, you can never see anything when it's used....it's just black. It's kind of like trying to use Rei's minimap in the nether....don't even bother. XD
Anyone please tell me.
But I am actually trying to make a pixelmon server and when legendaries spawn they gotta find it then they might
get lost.

Curse Premiumall the minimap mods now a days are made from morons. all the good map modders are left dont know why.
