The Modpack is currently being rebooted with major major changes. Current downloads of the pack on Technic have been removed and upon release the pack will be under a new name with a new post.

Looks like you've done a good job with this one! I'll admit it, the idea of a steampunk modpack has crossed my mind a few times lately, and I'm glad someone's made one.

My only gripe is that it seems pretty magic based for a steampunk pack, So I'll keep an eye out for some good steampunk esque mods for you.

Lastly, do you need graphics for your technic logo and background? If so, may be able to help.

Yeah. At first I wasn't planning on there being that much magic. But I was kind of persuaded by some of the others helping to work on it because of how many things talked about in steampunk also have a magic or mad science element to them. Thanks. If you do find any good steampunk mods please recommend them. I have been searching for a while coming up with very little and some of the ones I'd like I'm having trouble getting the permissions for because of no response from the authors.

I think that when it comes to putting magic in science packs, you can get away with Thaumcraft more than any of the others. It's just structured more as a research-driven, quantifiable process, and it just acts like science (all the addons to integrate it with tech-mods certainly help too). I don't think you could get away with Ars Magica or Grimoires of Gaia, but I think Thaumcraft is a decent, if not outright good, fit here.

Agreed. Last time I played with Thaumcraft, those alembics and essentia pipes looked very steampunk-like. It fits in for other reasons too of course.

This looks like a good modpack.

I don't know if it is just my computer... but every time I go to play steampunk'd it just disappears :/ It opens in my dock but I can't see anything and then it closes on its own Anyone know what could be the problem?

Hmm. No one else has had the same problem I don't think. I would suggest finding another 1.7.10 based pack and try running it. It might be the computer considering no one else is having the problem.

I hope you don't mind too much, I made a version with some of the mods removed. This one was lagging to the point I couldn't play it.

Its fine. I'm not someone who really cares if anyone edits it some. It's their gameplay, not mine .

If you dissable the Growthcraft mods and Natura mod lag should decrease tremendously because of them having to do with world generation. That should work some. Ofcourse it also depends on whatever other programs are running during gameplay. If you want to get the best out of it make sure nothing else is running. Also helps to have a good computer. If all else fails you can try recreating the pack with only the mods you want as they are all listed above. Just keep coremods in mind.

Welp, thats all I got to fix the lag problem.

Another good fix for the lag problem is to install FastCraft http://forum.industrial-craft.net/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=10820 it seems to fix most if not all the lag causes that 1.7.10 has. Also you should be able to keep everything enabled and still have playable fps.

You should look in to adding Tinkers Mechworks into this it really fits the feel of the pack and has recently been updated with quite a few fixes. I can't seem to find a permissions or policy for it but the author should not be too hard to track down.

I know it's been quite a while since Iv'e tried anything with this, but I will see about updating it now that I have a new laptop to work with

Might add a few mods and I'll check out Tinkers Mechworks. I think I tried it before but there may have been a compatibility issue with another mod, or it may have seemed too advanced for what I'm trying to accomplish.

There also seems to be download issues which I am currently trying to fix

Adding in the mod DIVERSITY, now that I have permission from the maker.

I've Decided to take the pack down for a bit. I want to give it a new look and name, and possibly just restart from scratch. I have some ideas. But it may take a while.
