ah ok I'll have to keep an eye out for I've seen so many nice looking mods just doesn't seem to be a way to add them sadly but thanks for the help though
Much longer than a few days. The 1.8 update is completely rewriting the render engine, which Forge and FML both make a LOT of changes to. On top of that, just the general thing about updating. In a post that Lex posted to the Forge forums, he did say it could take at minimum a month or so to get a stable Forge build out.
I hope this is in the right thread but how do I mod the 1.8 version of Minecraft for I'm not seeing any guides on how to mod this game?
It's simple. You can't. At least in terms of the bigger mods that are out, one's like IC2, Buildcraft, Thaumcraft, Thermal Expansion, etc. The bigger mods depend on a mod compatibility API, called MinecraftForge / ForgeModLoader (MinecraftForge is the API itself, FML is the part which loads the mods).
As I mentioned in my above reply, the 1.8 update is changing a lot about the rendering engine. Forge / FML makes a lot of changes for mods to interact and inject their own renderers in, so when the update drops, Forge / FML has to update to the new system too.
There may be smaller, more hacky, mods out, such as xray mods and all that. The main reason why these may be released before the Forge mods is because these don't require the game to be deobfuscated and decompiled (mainly the former) as much as ForgeGradle (the part of the Forge development package that handles both the mod in terms of builds, and the decompilation of the game) / MCP, so they can be made in just a decompiled and rough deobfuscated environment.

No, he meant that you can mod versions below 1.8 without any problems 1.7.x mods won't work on 1.8.
