Hi all, I am a new player on the PC version of Minecraft. I've been playing on XBox 360 for some time now, and wanted to up my experience by utilizing PC mods. I have done a lot of searching, but I am still not sure of what to do to quire the mods that I want. I don't plan on playing any multiplayer, I just want to have more freedom in Creative Mode. This is what I basically want: - Toggle ability for day/night - Toggle ability for weather - World Edit tools for mass copying/stacking specific sections of blocks - The RedPower mods (or similar, if any) that include Redstone Alloy Wire, Insulated wires, Cables and Insulated Cables. Essentially, I want to run Redstone wires in parallel without having to have a space in between and without the 1 tick delay every 15 blocks. I have found that Optifine (for the environment toggling), WorldEdit (for the copy/paste functions) and RedPower 2 (for the amazing Redstone Wire and repeaters/gates etc...) would suit my needs, but I can't find out how to run them all at the same time, or to get them to even run at all! I am a couple days fresh with the PC version, and am extremely green in regards to installing mods for this game, or any other game for that matter. Any and all help with this would be much appreciated. Thanks!
The mods you wish to download will complicate things. Redpower 2 is only for minecraft version 1.4.7 and Optifine is known to cause issues. I strongly recommend using Project Red instead of Redpower, Project Red is more up to date and will be easier to install due to the way forge (a required mod) can be installed in minecraft version 1.6.2 and later. It also contains many of the features that Redpower does. Optifine sometimes will not work well is other mods, including Porject Red. WorldEdit requires LiteLoader, which I haven't actually used before but the instructions were fairly clear. In conclusion, the process would be much easier if you use Project Red and minecraft version 1.7.2. I also recommend getting WorldEditCUI, it gives you an interface that should making using WorldEdit easier.
Using Project Red, WorldEditCUI and minecraft 1.7.2:
1. Download Minecraft Forge Installer, LiteLoader Installer, WorldEdit, WorldEditCUI, Optifine, CodeChickenCore (from Chickenbone's mods it is required for Project Red to work) and each module of Project Red you want
2. Start Forge Installer, it will install a forge profile on your minecraft launcher
3. Start minecraft once, this will download necessary libraries and make folders
For the next step you will need to find your minecraft folder, on windows it is located in appdata, on mac it is in your application support folder and on linux it should be in your home folder. If you cannot find it make sure that the setting to show hidden folders is on, also it may be in another folder. It will be either named 'minecraft' or '.minecraft'.
4. Put Optifine and Project Red into the 'mods' folder, if it isn't there just create it
5. Start LiteLoader installer, it should automatically detect Forge. When you can, tick the box next to forge so it is included
6. Put WorldEdit and WorldEditCUI into the 'mods' folder
7. Play minecraft through the LiteLoader profile
For future reference, if you are going to get any forge mods, they are usual installed in the same way as Project Red. Just with their dependencies instead of CodeChickenCore. LiteLoader is only required for some mods, many mods just use Forge. Also if you encounter any problems or have any more questions please post them in the 'Mods Discussion' section, this section is for actual mods only.
