I just downloaded minecraft in 1.6.2 and when I run minecraft
and then go to my minecraft folder there is no bin folder
with minecraft.jar and every thing else inside
since I can't find minecraft.jar I can't mod!!
PLEASE HELP!!!!
With 1.6, the locations have changed. Instead of .minecraft -> bin, you now have multiple minecraft .jars, which are located in .minecraft -> versions -> <WhatEverVersionYouWant>. You need to remember to copy the version you want, because if you just mod the 1.6.2 version, it will just redownload it. Just pick the version you want, copy it, put it in your versions folder, rename it to something like: Mod-1.6.2, then go into that folder, change the name of the .jar and .json file to the name of the folder (in this case Mod-1.6.2). Then, right-click the .json file, 'Open with' and then select notepad or Notepad ++ (if there's nothing there, select 'Select Default Program...' and choose it there). Then, in the first line, change id: "1.6.2" to your name (in this case: id: "Mod-1.6.2). When you've done that, just simply mod the .jar and you're done!
IMPORTANT NOTE! The names of the folders, jars and json files are case sensitive!

Hi SuporeMaster,I want to install TooManyItems but am failing at ModLoader test stage. I have tried to use the last version of ModLoader as I saw somewhere that it is unchanged and works for 1.6.2 (but I doubt it) because: I have tried and tried but I can't find which of those many 'download' buttons on the ModLoader page actually leads to the latest/current ModLoader, that is meant to work with 1.6.2. The links either send me round in circles or to third party programs I do not want (I even gave the download manager a try out of desperation). I have given up after a full hour of trying every link on the page(s). Can you help me out of this maze so I can download the latest version of ModLoader?
Anyway, I wiped Minecraft totally and downloaded afresh before following your directions exactly with what I have. New Bootstrapper tells me "Ready to play Minecraft Mod- 1.6.2" (named as per your suggestion). When I try to Play, the bootstrapper doesn't work and returns to 'Play' state.
"Game ended with bad state (exit code 1)Ignoring visibility rule and showing launcher due to a game crash"
I saved the whole bootstrapper text to notepad if it might help (but I think it's too long to post here). Hopefully it's just a question of getting the latest ModLoader and then the problem will be fixed. I swear I've tried or I wouldn't trouble you with this

Okay scrub that. I tried to but there isn't a button to remove one's posts so I had to make this one to tell Supore not to bother. I finally found the latest version. For others: you follow the links until four pages have popped up, each one having a different URL. You will probably come as I did to a page in German. There, you click 'skip ad' unless you want to read it. This will get you the ModLoader file. The pages all look so similar; the trick is to keep going in linear fashion.

You can mod it by opening the %appdata% and go to .minecraft and go to versions folder and select a version and then open it with Winrar that can be downloaded here http://www.rarlab.com and extract all the mod files in version that you wanted to run with specific version requirements.
and then go to my minecraft folder there is no bin folder
