Hola forum members, how goes it? Some of you may remember me from the koi mod (pre final), or the lone release of Slappy McCrackens back around 1.2.5, and may be wondering what's going on with the mod. Post 1.3 a lot of things broke with the mod, but we finally got the fish working somewhat properly in 1.4.2, only to have them break again in 1.4.7. DJ is working and caring for my father has become my full time job, so I don't often feel up to coding and she lacks the time to do models and textures on a regular basis. We aren't dead, but the mod has been on hiatus. They locked the thread, and rather than resurrect it in the mods forum I've decided to move discussion here until we have a new release.
It's likely we're going to go back to the planning stages at this point and redo the mod from scratch, as I simply could not get the plants to spawn post 1.3. So, throw some ideas at me, we'll see what I have to show. DJ has plans to redo a good many of the models and textures, as an artist she's entitled to be fickle. On my end, I'm competent when dealing with code but I've no particular talent for it that I can discern, so it should be a marginally less complex process to start from scratch with the new ideas in mind rather than trying to patch them in and fix the dozens of errors that would arise at every turn.
In short, have you used the koi mod, Slappy's, or both? If not, tell us why, and if so, what did you enjoy about the mod? What would you like to see added or changed?
I havn't used either mod because i entered the mod community too late to get to use them, but im looking forward to seeing the end product of this mod, especially the koi if you plan on having them return. Also perhaps a Nautilus mob would be interesting.
Ahhh this is where the posts went!
I've never played with this mod but I don't think I've looked forward to a mod more than this one.
The main reason is I didn't is by the time I started playing with mods, forge had basically become required for most of the mods I was interested in. I would get this for sure if it's forge compatible.
Other requests would be:
Compatibility with other Mob mods
Compatibility with additional biome mods
A way to make and stock fish tanks. (multi block structure fish tanks would be awesome). or a new glass block type that has no edge when set next to the same block (don't want lines covering my tank)
Growable corals and sea weeds.
I have never used this mod but when I found it I was both happy and sad as I was too late to enjoy it, having only started playing minecraft under a year ago. Ocean life fascinates me and I am always so sad to see the empty ocean biome. I have tons of ideas and wont annoy you with them all, but as as someone who badly wants an ocean life mod I would like to see this mod grow.
here are a few ideas: Kelp forest, ocean vents, the coral make a come back, maybe even a filled sand block... this would have clams and shells in it so when you dig it up you can get clam meat and other possible items. I would love to see the koi again as that was a big draw for me. other than that I would probably stick with allot iconic sea creatures. a couple types of shark, sea turtles, jelly fish, the moray eel, and the like. I also wouldnt mind seeing a mob that looks like the fish we catch now.
This isn't everything. I toyed with the idea of a ocean life mod but I have no programming skills what so ever. so for me it would probably just stay an idea.
Yep this ended up way longer than I wanted it to, but the idea has been nagging at me since I saw this a week ago and i had to get it out. have fun with this and I cant wait to see what you do with this mod.
Add in a compatibility with Mo' Creatures fish, so we can have huge tanks full of different species!
Add giant squid (Not necessarily with the same texture as the regular squid, but that would be interesting.
Make and Atlantis underwater dimension where you have to collect certain items and activate a portal you have to find in a similar way to the end portal to get there. Mermen and mermaids would probably be customary.
I know these are crazy ideas and probably really hard, but who knows maybe they can be done in a while from now?

Is it possible that this thread is dead, too. Are you still working on the mod? If you do i have some ideas.
Arapaima, Redtailcatfish,Tiger Shovelnose Catfish, Clown Knifefish, Wallago, Barramundi or other freshwaterfish cause there so many marinefish already.
I only played with the koi.... after it stopped get updated I cried.. for 2 years... maybe... but I was depressed.... beyond what anyone should be.... I missed my fish...
Would love to have them back, even if its just the koi I love that mod love those fish, they were one of those mods that small simple but perfect

Koi Mod? Slappy McCracken had koi and all other water mobs! Are you slappy-go-lucky now?

I know, but the simple mods are the best, the koi were perfect edition to minecraft
Uhh... im not slappy-go-lucky, otherwise I would be slapping far to many people, not healthy I think.

Yeah. I would like Slappy McCracken's mod to be updated, and the changes would be watermobs actually having a better swimming style than a squid, instead of just walking in the water.
Slappy's looked the best and honestly filled in the biggest flaw in minecraft, the lack of stuff under water, not just in the oceans every body or water even if it just adds underwater plants in some places or lakes packed to the brim with fish and plant life. I really hope ya'll can get this mod out again it really looked wonderful and it's exactly what mincraft needs.
I use to have both mods and I loved them both because of how they added a wonderful atmosphere to the bodies of water in Minecrafts. The koi mod very cool because you could add some colorful life to your Minecraft water gardens. The ocean life mod add so much unique aquatic life such as tadpoles with frogs that not ever added in any other mods.

Glad the mod is still going
