You don't need make a weapon like the Cross bow as Balkon's Weapons Mod already includes that and even more! I'm not sure if this answers you questing regarding Learning how to Mod...
so you have to know java code to make mods... :blink.gif:
What did you think? Java is the Minecraft language, if you want to make a Mod, you have to know it. If you Don't want to learn Java you can always just use a pre-made template, however that does limit you to make very simple Mods...
LOL whats dos .. kids these days with thier windows ... DR.dos FTW
lol i hate windows XD but yeah, i myself need to learn more java but if CMD is what we're considering DOS then i'm pretty good with that.
i reccomend a "java for dummies" book. by c++ for dummies was extremely helpful. it gives a good grasp on the language, or at least enough to get you started and understanding how the mods work.
I know a bit of Java, just basic stuff. How much more would I need to learn in order to make a mod that say adds the threat of dying from thirst, and adding items to prevent that? Not to mention adding variables which causes it to speed up and slow down depending on the action the player is performing like digging and where the player is.
You can find tons of books and resources on how to program with Java. It is probably the most basic programming language to learn. I recommend opening the iTunes Store, going to iTunes U, and searching for Programming Methodology. That is a well-taught course on Java. You can also download the resources from the Stanford website, or from the iTunes U app for iDevices. Good luck!
Like others said, simple, find code for bows and arrows edit those, i suggest you download eclipse by java, it makes it much easier to edit the correct files. Good luck !
You need to know java, thenewBoston on youtube has some good stuff, otherwise just look at MC source code, its pretty self-explanatory in some parts ( meaning you can kind of figure out what it is )

Really? I've never tried Python, but if it's easier than DOS, then that must be crazy easy. Like HTML kind of easy.
