They're in conflict with one another, causing the said crash. If you were to get mods that coexisted together, you can have as many mods as you want on Minecraft.

Yeah, I don't know about your mods in specific, but I only use minecraft Forge compatible mods, at one point (pre-1.0.0) I had close to 25 mods running.

If you build a man a fire he will be warm for a day,
If you set a man on fire he will be warm for the rest of his life.
how can i find out if the mods i want to install are in conflict when i go to the instalation instructions they are all instaled via modloader is that enough or is there somewhere i can find out if they are compatible?
for reference these are the mods i am trying to run:
risugam elemental arrow mod
portal gun mod
invasion mod
laser mod
well, the Portal Gun mod can't run with any other mod (or very few, not these) and yes, if it's compatible with other mods it will say. If it doesn't, the it won't work with others.

I used to be known as Colo2011/Dragon_Lord. My rank was Coal Miner, and I've been here for a while.
There is no limit but you will get to a certain point where your game will lagg like **** and there will be some mods which don't work well with others.
there isnt any limit but if you are having a problem then its probably an id conflict if your game is crashing
or this reason, i am guessing so it might be wrong so lets say im joking...
you install too many mods and your game cant take it anymore hehe
This thread is over 2 years old. Question is no longer relevant. Back then there were many ModLoader mods, and many more jar-edit mods than now. Jar-edit mods cause conflicts by nature. Due to the new launcher introduced with 1.6, there are hardly any jar-edit mods left; almost everyone uses Forge.

I AM NOT YOUR PERSONAL MINECRAFT MOD SUPPORT AGENT, SO PLEASE DO NOT PM ME ABOUT PROBLEMATIC MODS THAT ARE NOT MINE. If you're having trouble/crashes with a mod, you'll have better luck resolving it in this forum section than PMing me. If you already made a topic, be patient about responses. If you have troubles with anything non-Minecraft related on your PC, I might be able to help, though, but no promises. Even though I could wish to be, I'm not a wizard.
Old post, doesn't need to be continued. And no there is no limit to mods, I currently have about 210 loaded Mods with Forge and could still add more; the only limit you get is with compatibility conflicts and what your computer can handle.

Because you will run into compatibility issues.
Also isn't the Portal Gun mod like compatible with all of one other mod?
