That's all nice and well but there are also alot of people who loves the aether and if this isn't aether compatible most of us won't download it. I just hope this mod stays aether compatible.
The problem isn't the Aether mod, as it doesn't edit any base classes. The problem is ShockahPI, which edit a lot of base classes. They either have to figure out a way to prevent conflicts between ShockahPI and this mod, or the much actually use ShockahPI along this mod.
i just came up with a devious idea, there should be bosses in this mod, but i've tought more deeply then just "o lets add a boss" , you should randomly encounter them, they would roam the nether, but they would be extremely rare. and as one of the drops they would give (i think they should drop multiple things) they would drop a music disc that plays the track i associated with them.
track 1 : enter the nether (remastered)
boss name: soul master
appearance: a giant floating phantom with menacing eyes
attacks: sends nearby mobs (regardless if they are friendly or not) to attack the player (half a hearts damage to player no matter what their normal strength is).
special ability's: he can regain life from nearby mobs that are under his control by killing them (should glow when he does this)
difficulty found on: easy
killed by:when the player kills a mob under his control the he receives half of the total amount of life the mob had.
size: 12 blocks high (double players hight), 4 blocks wide and 2 blocks long.
track 2: numbskull
boss name: skelenake
appearance: colossal skeleton snake
attacks: bends over the player and open it's mouth to pour lava onto the player.
special ability's: fire repellent, can burrow.
difficulty found on: hard
killed by: shooting arrows into it's eyes
size: between 100-150 blocks long and 20 blocks high and 20 wide.
track 3: the quietus
boss name: nether herobrine
appearance: herobrine
attacks:diamond sword and bow with 20 stacks of arrows
special ability's: super speed
difficulty found on: medium
killed by: ?
size: player size
i wasn't sure if nether hero brine should appear on hard or should skelenake appear, i chose skelenake in the end due so its sheer size, but i don't know, its your choice. also i suggested nether herobrine because lots of people love him, well love hate any way you know what i mean. he's a favourite bad guy. but also thought there should be an early warning system to let the player know that the boss is nearby, i think the bosses corresponding music should play in a 50 block radius from the boss, to give the player a chance to pre-pair or run away.
If I remember correctly, you said that you're planning to make this compatible with the Aether. Does this mean you're using ShockAhPI? Because a lot of people absolutely despise the Aether Mod, myself included.
And while I think you're doing an amazing job on improving the Nether, I'll never think about using it if you use ShockAhPI, and so will many people.
I'm sorry, but I have never heard onyone who despises the Aether. This mod will be compatible with the Aether, but I don't see why it would need ShockAhPI unless you are playing it with the aether.
Huh, you're right, I can't find where they said they'll use ShockAhPI. I must've made the assumption that they would because it would be compatible with the Aether mod. (And that is why I shouldn't post late at night)
And you've never heard of anyone that despise the Aether mod? Maybe I just talk to a lot of negative people.

What will become of the old suggestions shown in the previous advertisement? Durodium was a pretty good suggestion in my opinion. Maybe you guys will work on these old things later on in development?
While I don't agree with everything in here, I really like what you guys are doing as far as adding more stuff to the Nether and making it a proper alternate realm. If this gets released before Notch finally decides to start adding stuff I will most definitely download it.
Of all the ideas, I especially liked the music. I wouldn't necessarily call it "hellish" music, but it is different from what is already in Minecraft and is a good fit for the Nether. But I'm also a music minor so that may have helped to fuel my huge enjoyment. :tongue.gif:

We're very close to getting the base-line out. Hopefully before next week sometime.
We're stitching everything we have together and getting all of the elements in line.
Currently we're working out some bugs with lighting code and other small things.
This baseline mod is just a preview really, including most blocks and items... but not
all the mobs.
I've been getting a lot of questions about compatibility on whether or not this will be compatible with the Aether mod.
Here's the deal:
We were planning on making it compatible, original but we've run into some compatibility issues when it comes to other mods.
If you plan to use the Aether mod, then the Nether Expansion WILL be compatible. Unfortunately, there will be MANY other mods that will be incompatible. I cannot get into detail as to why this is... as I don't have all the answers. All I know is that we have a decision to make.
So now I'm asking you all...
If we can't get compatibility with everything,
would you prefer compatibility with the Aether only
or
Compatibility with everything BUT the Aether mod.

best of luck with the mod :smile.gif:
Open the folder containing your save, and delete the DIM-1 folder within it.
