Holy ****! That was actually ****ing epic! I love the idea of water wheels, nice job!
Thanks man! It's actually part of the first stages of an overall system for harnessing and using mechanical power that I introduced with the last version of the mod, so there are many cool things to follow
Indeed. Beyond the purely aesthetic aspects (which are substantial) its part of an overall mechanical system that's intended to supply power to a wide range of devices.
For example, as I've mentioned, the Water Wheel can be used to power a Mill Stone. The Mill Stone can be used to grind Hemp into Hemp Fibers, then the Hemp Fibers can be fashioned into rope:
Or, you could use the mill-stone to grind stone and wood into "Omni Slabs":
Other uses of mechanical power will be forthcoming. The Water Wheel just repesents the early stages of the development of this system, where I need to include some kind of power-source :smile.gif:

Lol! Ok man, nice troll. And no, no stealing involved. All the code is mine as I'm sure the users of my mod, who have witnessed its development and the effort I've put into it, will attest.
If you think I need to steal code, you really need to take a closer look at the number of features in the mod.
Ummm...yeah, and in saying that I stole the "idea" for rope, you mays well be saying that I stole the idea for a water wheel from some guy that invented it over a thousand years ago.
The idea for in-game rope has been floating around these forums for ages. That other people may have done it is irrelevant, particularly considering that it will have uses in this mod that simply can not be done with others. You'll also notice the use of anchor points in my mod to which to attach rope (which means it can be attached to a horizontal surface), and the ability to reel the rope in from the top (which isn't present in the one you linked). Some aspects of our design-choices may be similar, but the implementation is very different.
Again man, nice troll attempt. I can only assume this represents some deep-seated insecurity on your part that motivates you to criticize anything constructive that anyone else does.
The anchor isnt needed and what do you mean reel it in
Actually, yes, it is needed if you want to be able to attach it to horizontal surfaces (like the side of my tower that I rappel down in the video), or if you bother to take into account the future uses of the rope that I mentioned. Only being able to attach it to a ceiling like in the video you linked means that if you want to descend a shaft from the top of a structure, or if you're in the middle of a shaft, and want to go down, you'll have to build a supporting structure to hang your rope off of.
It's just a better design this way with more applications, plain and simple.
As for reeling it in, you can stand at the top and pull up the rope in my implementation. This is very useful for cave-exploring and such, where you can pull your rope back up after you've climbed back up it.
Link is in my signature as well.
Hehe...yeah, I've got my own version of the same kind of facility up and running too:

With the mod installed, you simply hoe grass and once in a while you'll get hemp seeds.
Better Than Wolves Mod WARNING: May cause addiction and/or skull detonation. Handle with care.
Good question

Every little bit is appreciated man. Thanks! :smile.gif:
Water-powered mechanical force. That's the point.

Is that all? it doesnt seen like much
btw DID YOU STEAL THAT ROPE MOD tsk tsk tsk

Thank you sir! If someone gets the word out to Notch, he'll receive a warm welcome, but as I said before, I'm not chasing after the guy :wink.gif:
where can i download it?
:biggrin.gif:
I smell a wolfaboo O.o

No doubt :smile.gif:
