ugh *keeps self from cussing out* plz read all the age quote above
and yes alot of them do... just look at multi deminshans (its BIGGER the aether AND has a testible version)
Uhh, what? I don't think you realize how much content is actually going to be present in this mod. The Multi-Dimensions mod only has one new dimension, and all it is is a copy-paste of the Nether's generation but with water instead of lava. Is that what you want the Aether to be? Do you want us to release the Aether with the generation of the Nether but with new blocks? That'd be pretty lame to me.
Just face it guys this mod will never be released, because when they seem to get close to finishing, they seem to add more **** to their todo list (like, are king aerwhales really necessary for the initial release?), thus pushing back the release date. The byproduct = a ton of angry PMS-y fans.
Dont get me wrong I know that coding that time to get it as close to perfect as possible but still...
I agree with the [Coming Soon] should be changed, I think [Eventually] would work better.
Just face it guys, people will just never stop whining, because when they seem to understand the problems we are going through, they seem to forget everything that has been told to them (like, the lighting bug which is pretty damn essential to fix), thus making themselves look like complete and utter morons. The byproduct = a ton of whiny 10 year olds who are experiencing the wonders of puberty.
Don't get me wrong, I know that these people are probably good hearted, but I think [Shutting Up] would really benefit them in the future.
Don't you think adding some bold text saying a bug is keeping the mod from releasing would at least make it easier for people to find the answer to why it isn't releasing instead of expecting everyone to read down the page and find the link?
Because then, if someone asks when the mod is coming out, someone else can say "It's right there at the top of the page" instead of "It's down there in the FAQ", I had a hard time finding the FAQ at first.
Also, as I understand it, the Aether night will be the same as the "earth" day, and I'm not sure if it's been answered before, but will the night sky be visible at Aether Night?
random question: are you from europe?
also: you make a very good point with that. 5 extra jump height is ridiculous
yes, germany
kool. I could tell because you used a comma to denote a decimal whereas in america we use a period. or maybe you used a period to denote a division between the thousands and the hundreds. hmm. i dont remember.

You are godly in my eyes for saying this. even more than you were for the mod
See, even Notch agrees.
I guarantee that I will be the first to download the Aether when it comes out.
For you my friend
Yeah right. like you will be the first to download. the first person to download will be the who refreshes the page every second. Im betting ten bucks that even if i found it 10 seconds after it being released, id be about the hundreth person to download.

Dad?: Ssssssssso how was your day Sssssssonn?
Son: 0_0
You need to be the president of internet :smile.gif:
I would vote for you atleast.
I must admit, I would not mind having that title, haha! I didn't mean to OFFEND all 12-Year olds on the internet out there, I was merely setting an example. Although must of us know the people I'm referring to. DIAMONDSSSSSSSSS. No. This mod deserves something better then a simple .png of something shiny. Support. Nobody wants to be making a mod and hear people complain. They want positive feedback! And if not, something to change or ideas. Not trolling.
They all put ALOT of personal time into making this mod. Enjoy what you can, and make the most of it.
to all those people complaining because they said 10-12: they are talking about maturity level... then again my dad only just got to the maturity level 9 of a 9 year old...
Is anyone going to update the front page? I read there are more items and I wish to know about them! :biggrin.gif: Unless of course they're supposed to be a secret, in that case, disregard my previous statement.
Also, what lighting bug are people talking about? Is it the one that occasionallly makes some shadows much darker even in sunlight until you edit the surrounding area?
Also, what lighting bug are people talking about? Is it the one that occasionallly makes some shadows much darker even in sunlight until you edit the surrounding area?
nope, its because aether day has light level of 15 which makes minecraft go WEEEEEEEEE and explode.

nope, its because aether day has light level of 15 which makes minecraft go WEEEEEEEEE and explode.
But doesn't the overworld have a daylight level of 15 too?
Im still unsure what bug everyone is talking about, ive deleted mass chunks in the Overworld, Mass chunks in the nether, and even mass chunks in skyland!
Can someone post some pictures of videos of the bug in action so that i could try messing with the lighting?

Haha! Could not have said it better myself. To answer your question, the Aether mod AND Minecraft in general is experiencing a major lightning bug that makes the mod un-playable. I believe. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

Close. To my understanding, it has very little to do with the lighting levels in the Aether and more to do with the alternate dimension aspect.
Apparently, a bug that was once present in Minecraft in general was never fixed for other realms (presumably including the Nether). That's what's causing so much lag and lighting recalculations.
It doesn't make much sense to me, but it seems something is different between the overworld and the Nether as far as lighting calculations are concerned. Why would they use different calculations at all?
Quote from jeanlou »
We can conclude from that that it is probably not the fact that the islands ARE there that causes the problem.
So, what's left? Generation, of course. As you can see in my quick example picture, there is no chunck updates (haven't figured how to generate islands...)
Maybe a workaround for the generation problems would be an extern generator (generate the map, then go in the game to see it) but that would make it finite (as opposed to infinite).
All that needs to be done is to recreate this test for the Nether. If it starts lagging then, we will know it's because of a difference in the lighting calculations between the overworld and all alternate dimensions.
If it doesn't lag, we can assume that calculations for generation are causing trouble. Since Risugami's biospheres work, it again comes down to a difference in the engine between the overworld and the alternate dimensions.
This is all about the lightining in another dimensions, and mainly the aether itself.... Think with me:
does the Nether has sunlight? How do you know? its covered in Bedrock below AND ABOVE, and, seriously, it has a bottom, try calculating a fall into a endless pit! its more like the aether! how can light fall into the "none" or Void?
it would calculate all its trajetory till there, and most of our computers arent made for science, so, KABOOM!

Thats all i can say, aether has too much light.
