Hello.
Well, this is my first post on these forums, and I just made my account. Although I have been lurking for quite awhile...
I have used several of the mods made by various people on the forums, and after awhile, became interested in trying my hand at this. Now, I can't say that I'm skilled whatsoever at java, so these things I've done are basically simple edits of official coding.
Beta 1.2_01
Gravel-Flint Beta 1.2_01 - Requires ModLoader
I don't think I've seen one around since the Beta 1.2 update, so I decided to fiddle with it myself. The often used 3x Gravel -> 1 Flint. But, with an added smelting feature, bake that gravel, instead!
Quickly craft gravel at a cost of less flint, or sacrifice some fuel and time for the full amount.
Basically, I just wanted to use Risugami's ModLoader to create something simple, just to see how it worked.
WalkImmuneSoil Beta 1.2_01
All this does is change the tilled soil for crops, so that when things walk on it, it doesn't revert back to dirt. So that when you have a field of crops, and cows suddenly spawn all over it, you don't end up with just a field of dirt. It still reverts normally with no crops planted, though.
I made this one cause I wanted to have farmland out in the open. http://www.mediafire.com/?r8zwx4gkia38sks

NoClipLeaves Beta 1.2_01
All leaves are possible to walk through, for any entity. That includes every mob. Meaning you can walk up to a tree with an axe, and chop it down, without ever touching leaves. Or just wander through dense forests without the feeling of a maze. Also, I noticed a funky bug where dropped items fly all over the place when colliding with leaves...as if they are solid blocks. Oh well!
You can still hit the leaves, too.
I did this one at the request of a friend. http://www.mediafire.com/?sdcvag3xi29k8w6

To install these, you simply have to drag them into your minecraft.jar.
Feel free to create backups of the minecraft.jar, and any saves you may be worried about.
You can access this file by hitting Start > Run, type in %appdata% and hit enter. Then go into '.minecraft', and into the 'bin' folder. You can open minecraft.jar using a program like winrar, or 7zip. And just drag the .class files into it. And make sure you delete the META-INF folder in there, too.
There are other threads around that tell you how to do this, with more detail.
Now, I'm certain there are bugs with these, I'm still learning all this java stuff. But in the future, I hope to create larger mods, that aren't just little hacks in the code.

I'm glad you guys liked it! I've been trying to learn how to use ModLoader with things, so that they are compatible with as many mods as possible.. Having a few difficulties with it, but I'll figure it out, I'm sure.
I've been attempting to change fired arrows, from skeletons and whatnot, to be collectible. Hence ModLoader, there are some mods that alter the same class, and it would be good to use them alongside each other.
Quote from m3ta_knight »
can you make a mod like the noclip leaves where you gain swim physics in them or dont fall through them when sneaking
I thought about trying something similar.. Not sure about the sneaking part, I'll have to look into it. But I'll give them a shot!
Added Gravel-Flint earlier.
Also updated WalkImmuneSoil, but I'm going to keep the old version link there I guess.
Will be updating the NoClipLeaves, but I don't know that I will be actually upgrading it soon, if at all.
Also still looking at skeleton arrows being collectible, which would also cause arrows from a dispenser to be collectible too, I believe. Not to mention all entities that fire arrows... Maybe I can change that up and just make it dispensers, for people who would prefer that, if I can figure it out. Still troubles with making it compatible with other arrow mods. Maybe I'll have to ask permission and post a modified class from those other mods, or something.
Anyways, thanks everyone for the feedback and input. And thanks to all those modders out there for making it even possible for me to mod at all. Notch and his crew get many thanks, too, tee hee.

Oh, this sounds very useful ,will try out.

I've been attempting to change fired arrows, from skeletons and whatnot, to be collectible. Hence ModLoader, there are some mods that alter the same class, and it would be good to use them alongside each other.
I thought about trying something similar.. Not sure about the sneaking part, I'll have to look into it. But I'll give them a shot!
And... don't forget mobs too for those leaves.
