I'm taking a crack at making Ayutashi's Blade bow look better.
Once I'm done with that I wouldn't mind giving it a try for pixel art weapons. Assuming we're still restricted at 16x16 weapons. Thats the main drawback the software has, is not being able to extend that further for our spear and 2h weapon ideas.
I'd love to see ideas posted for each type in the OP though. That way we could possibly vote on the best ones to add to the mod if we get someone to make it.
For Modders, don't forget there's a whole IRC channel devoted to Minecraft, I'm not sure where it is, but I think its linked to one of the other Big modders pages.
Also about MCP beta, I look forward to seeing others catch up their mods, and I can unbreak my world :smile.gif:

Better place to find KodachiZero's projects
Wooden staff would be basic less durabilaty and strength but fastest.
Stone staff is slightly slower yet more powerful and durable than wooden.
Iron staff is slightly slower yet more powerful and durable than stone.
Gold staff is between wooden and stone in power and durability yet is almost as fast as wood and does double damage against the undead: Zombies, Skeletons, and Zombie Pigmen
Diamond staff is as fast as stone, more powerful than iron, and more durable also.
Obsidian staff has the same speed as iron while being more powerful and durable than diamond.
Netherrack staff is a special staff with the same power, durabilty, and speed as stone. Netherrack staffs' special ability is that anything you hit with it is lit on fire.

I LOVE this idea. I would use staffs a LOT :biggrin.gif:
Once i can find what variables to modify, to give added range, speed, and damage, i will be making this mod, if no one else does by the time i learn the var's... If anyone does know which var's the above things are, let me know, and i'll get to craking at the mod, also.... I Will NEED Graphics for them... as i suck at pixel art......
Things i will do: (So the would-be pixel artist would know what to make lol XD)
Katar
Dagger
2H
Spear
Bladed Polearm (Like spear, but higher cost, and a bit more dmg)
Staff's (Which i may then add staff variants - Staff of Such And Such, or Such And Such Staff, etc)
Katana
Water Staff/Sword/2H
Frozen Staff/Sword/2H (And a way to create Ice blocks, lol, i am thinking 2X2 snow blocks would make 1 ice block..)
Flame Staff/Sword/2H
Wind Staff/Sword/2H (I will make a way to have a empty bottle, to represent a bottle of air, or something i dunno)
NOTE: Elemental Weapons would be the last thing i will do....
EDIT:
Forgot to add the Katana, so added that, and two others

yeah but the staffs should always have tree first and then the other material you want to use.
Mabe like so?

However I do like the original idea better. The amount of resources would justify the increase in usefulness.
Too much ideas, too little code if you ask me.
Anyway let me toss my two cents into the hype, what about a weapon rack object? Recipie detail matters not, but when you right click it with a weapon/tool it'd "hold" the weapon for display. Right clicking it again with an empty hand would grab it again.
i like it, except for the knife. it is only 1 resource lower than the sword and offers very little it essentive. thats why they should be THROWING knives. would do 1.5 to 2 times the arrow dmg.

yeah, its going to take me forever to got around to all these at this rate, i just got the battle axes done. i just started the code today, so who knows when it will be done

I'd say stick with the basic ideas of the first post, then plough trough what is useful of the other ideas. The rods seem to follow the KISS (keep it simple, stupid) rule, however I can't verify the same for other posts. Also what about the weapon rack? possible?

Ah, you are doing them, can ya help me a bit? i am trying to find which functions/methods/variables define the range, speed, and damage, although, so far i think i got the speed stuff already done...
Unless Notch wants MC combat to remain environmental. As in, with MC combat you create block traps/pits for combat (And TNT) rather than pure weaponry.
Though a combination of weaponry and environment in combat would be awesome, so, again, THIS MUST HAPPEN.

You can make it in your crafting square, and don't need a workbench?

Recipie:
= netherrack
= Piece of diamond armour
This armour would have two special bonuses:
1. Partial resistance to fire. Meaning fire and lava hurt you but maybe 15x slower.
2. Enhanced boots shall burneth the ground thou walketh upon. This would work like the Nightmare DrZhark made.
(P.S. I'm sorry if this is off topic; I just thought it was a cool idea)
(P.P.S. Now that I think about it; it is a weapon in certain context .)

/like/
"My Life" -> "Pointless"
true, every game i play i get one of each weapon, i cant do that with this game :sad.gif:
this would be the best mod out their
So many ideas, it's overwhelming. I'm not a modder but I'm sure these would be great in some mods.
Here's my two cents

Fire Spear? lol. It just ignites the target and would deal the normal amount of damage as to burning.

But I've yet to meet someone who can outlast fire.

i can only help you with damage
pretty much any of the numbers in that code will have an effect on the damage
