Btw. is this compatible with MC portable and MCFS?
I don't know if this works with MC portable.
This is not compatible with MCFS. MCFS is a much more complex solution to the problem of chunk fragmentation, and I disagree with some of the trade-offs it makes. The extreme of having only one file is unnecessary. MCFS is also not backwards-compatible.
Regions are close to the simplest solution possible. RegionFile.java is only 270 lines of code. The global cache is another 60 lines, and the integration with original Minecraft code is trivial.
is directly related and pretty much answers to my question: once you convert your save file, you can't convert it back (for the time being)?
or am i not understanding what you meant by pack/unpack/repack...
Correct, I don't have a reverse conversion tool done yet.
Would a Python utility work for people? I'm not very familiar with Java's argument-handling and directory-walking libraries, but I could get something written up in Python very quickly.
Works great for me. Save/load times significantly reduced. Nice work! I always thought it was ridiculous that the levels were built out of so many tiny files =[]
Soo... The region folder is the only neccesery file? Can i delete all others?
Again.
No, you still need the files other than the old-format chunks.
"Any changes made to the world while using this mod will be lost, but your inventory and position will persist."
Wait what the hell does that exactly mean lol?
So your saying whilst using your mod, if i alter the surroundings in the game at all the changes will be lost?
im so confused.

When using this mod, chunks are saved to the region directory. If you delete the region directory, the chunks will be lost.
Well that sucks... So the number of files is still pretty much the same, for my world it's 4000+, and it's a pain in the ass to copy/backup/do whatever you can imagine with them as it will go very slow...
Hey Scaevolus.. I downloaded the mod but yet the lag/framerate persists.
I don't know what the hell to do anymore.
The only way i can stabilize the framerate is if i go into the options menu and quickly switch from (FAST) to (FANCY) back to (FAST).
Then the framerate starts getting smoother, but that only lasts for about a minute then starts dropping again..
Then i have to repeat the method above to get it back to normal...
Loyal, stubborn and straightforward, He'd follow a friend straight to Hell.
Yes, 1.2.5 I believe, I am positive.

Good job.
