One thing that's bothered me since difficulty was added was the fact that there's absolutely no way to have both health regeneration AND mob spawning together (or no regeneration and no mob spawning). I realize that if someone were to make this it would most likely throw off the balancing of fighting mobs, so I would like there to be a text file (to avoid going into slider madness) with three options:
1) How many health is healed per tick, specified in half hearts (20 would be full health)
2) How far apart regen ticks are, specified in seconds
3) How long after getting hurt before regen kicks in, in seconds (I suppose whoever (if anyone) does this would have to put a check for 0 to prevent getting healed instantly by resetting the heal timer when hurt)
An example of how this would effect gameplay: Say I set it to 4 half hearts every 4 seconds, with a 10 second delay after getting hurt. This setting combo would make it so mobs are still a threat (if you're not on peaceful anyways), you can't have quite as much "fall-down-nigh-deadly-cliffs/caves-because-it's-faster" mentality peaceful has due to the 10 second wait, and running out of healing items is no longer the end of the world if you're stuck in a cave with no way out.
