i installed it correctly and i have black screen :sad.gif:
1. I downloaded modloader
2. then audiomod
3. then battle tower mod
4. i installed all things in folder to minecraft.jar
5. added all things of other folder to resources
6. Deleted META-INF
7. Black screen after login.
The 1 and 2 should have been released with a read me file because i don't know if im placeing the ibxm folder in the correct place "mincract.jar"
Simply wonderful! The script for your generation is just right; not too many towers, but just enough. The difficulty of something like this amazes me. I walked into the tower with a smirk on my face, thinking to myself, "Pfft, This is gonna be a walk in the park. The golem may be a little tough, but that loser wont take anything more than a couple of seconds." I was SO WRONG.
Wearing Diamond armor, I took a few steps in. Immediately I was bombarded with creepers, Skelees, spiders, and zombies. Heck, by the time I reached the top I had next to no treasure (It all exploded), and the entire tower was next to nothing anymore (Again with the explosions). My next encounter was the "wont take more than a couple of seconds" golem. To put a long story short: I died. After a long journey back I found that the golem, along with my stuff, disappeared. Luckily, there was another tower close by. I tried my luck again, and I finally conquered that menace.
Well, on to what you're reading this for: suggestions. I know people may have already stated these, but I'm not reading through an entire multi-page thread just to post. My main issue was that the difficulty of it all provided such a petty award. I mean, THREE diamonds. Seriously? Sure there were a couple of good-ish items along the way, but nothing significant. So suggestion one: Give us a better reward.
Another thing I would like to suggest is varying difficulties on towers. A few easy towers with a diamond or two for a prize (I'll let you determine that) would be great. And of course with that you'd need to add practically impossible towers, giving grand prizes beyond a humble miner's wildest dreams. I suggest making the easy towers smaller, have less monster spawners, and have a clear way to distinguish it from other towers. Same goes for the larger towers, but add more spawners, a larger tower, harder boss, ect.
O
Anyways, thank you for the killer mod :biggrin.gif: I knew right off the back that it would be one of my favorites. ^^
I was thinking, why just towers? There are many randomly generated caves and coves by the shoreline, why not create a cave dungeon, much easier than one of the towers but a much smaller reward. They could be a bit more common, but it depends on the landscape and they'd have 1 or 2 spawners in, plus another unique boss.
* Make Towers a tad less common. There are 3 right next to each other
* Make Golems amune to arrows. Shooting arrows at stone shouldn't hurt the stune
* Make better treasure. I whoped my butt for nothing.
Could you release the files for this golem mob, and how you got him to spawn in that area specifically? I'm making a mob training center that consists of 7 floors of hell for my base, and this boss would be amazing to have..

Alright, your post is one of the most useful replies I've seen so far. I read the whole thing and I respect your opinions. Here's my answer to most of the issues you described, as well as everyone else's:
#1 as for the tower difficulty, I've been thinking all along about the very real possibility of just climbing up the tower from the outside instead of tackling it like normally. All you really need is 64 blocks and you can make it up there.. and once you're at the top you just need to fight the golem, none of the other mob spawners. if you consider that situation, the reward kind of seems worth it. And also, a little secret, the chest on the 8th floor (if you have an 8th floor) has really great loot, like TNT, big packs of obsidian, and I think a lava bucket. So maybe what you'd want to do is try taking on the dungeon from the top-down. Downside is: you activate EVERY SINGLE SPAWNER on your way up. Good luck with that.
#2 Considering how much loot there is in total within the tower, it's really really difficult to get every single item. But it's drastically easier if you go from the top-down and shine light on the spawners while you destroy them. Almost every floor has a little special something. Just dont run away and let the big guy make ruins of everything before you do it yourself.
#3 "The script for your generation is just right; not too many towers, but just enough." --You are one of the only people who has said that so far. Luckily for everyone else, I will be working on a new revision that somewhat restricts their rarity to being generated only every 600 chunks or so, and after that, they will attempt to generate vigorously.
#4 A lot of people seem to want variants... the origin of this tower itself is actually a tower I made back in the Creative days, one of my first large structures. Inspired by the Thanatos Tower from Ragnarok Online, it was ruined on the outsides and had crumbling floors, made of the rock tile and not the double step. I made many different variations of that tower on many servers, always using the same one-floor-at-a-time construction method until I couldn't build any higher. The highest version ever made was about twenty floors thanks to help from a good friend, Unquotable, who I haven't heard from in ages. This mod was an attempt to make the tower come to life and make its legacy somewhat instilled in the community... and to put a nice statue guardian on top like I always wanted to. No other dungeon in the game could be as special to me, personally, as this one. Besides, it already has varying loot, mobs, and number of floors.
#5 Intercompatibility - coming soon but I'm not going to update until 1.2.7. Corosus is working to find out what the problem is with his Pets Mod, I will add compatibility with the Biome Terrain Mod myself, but as for the Mo' Creatures Mod, I have no idea. And I will support this mod for various later versions. I will not leave your worlds to rot in the dust, tainted by troublesome Tile Entities that contaminate your terrain with their variably compatible presence.
But the most important thing to take away from this is try tackling the towers from the top down. And that is all.
Could you release the files for this golem mob, and how you got him to spawn in that area specifically? I'm making a mob training center that consists of 7 floors of hell for my base, and this boss would be amazing to have..
Hey crory, the answer is that he spawns from block 117, or mod_BattleTower.blockTome as it is referenced in the code. It's a modified mob spawner which is invisible and immediately is erased as soon as the golem spawns. You can decompile JAD and take a look at it if you want, or if that's too advanced, just trust me it's block 117. Some other mods might use that block ID though.
Hears a story that happened to me. So, I climb to the top with 303's Grappling hook, and using the Pet Mod, I wham the golem with it, his health bar appears, and if I approach him, he doesn't attack. However, When I order him to follow me, he doesn't respond? Do you know anything specific about this?
P.S. I did manage to get him back to my base, but I had to use the gravity gun part of the grappling hook. :tongue.gif:
P.P.S. He destroyed my base! I ordered him to guard, which he di, but when the zombies go close to my base, they engaged him, but walked away, and so he did the explosive stomp thing and blew up my base!

I wanna learn java. any help?
You can get a lot of help if you go to school and study programming from scratch...
This would be an amazing mod, so amazing that it's something I'd like Notch to put in the game but...
It's very unstable right now.
Here are some complains:
Why is it creepers can blow up the chests..., that made me mad. The golem can do the same thing to the top chest.
Creepers can blow up a lot of the tower, like wow.
If you run away from the golem, it can actually jump off the tower and can follow you. -kinda neutral about this.
You can kill the golem without getting hit if there's a block in between you and it.
Skeletons can shoot from below you if your on the floor above them and can shoot from above you if your on the floor below them.
Good things:
Its fun and exciting to see a new tower on my minimap.
Rewards are ok.
You can tame the golem with the pet mod but no point since all it does is keep blowing up (which hurts you and can break your base).
Boss looks nice
I like the tower and it's not as common as people say.
Good mod but make it a little more stable. Maybe make some floors out of obsidian or the chests surrounded by obsidian so they can't be blown up?

I see that there are definitely some problems with the tower and the behaviour of the golems: one area of sorrow seems to come mostly from the explosions. The explosive stomp code uses a few custom methods that work around the usual processes, which leads to the awkward behaviour in Pet Mode. I already have a solution for this and I'll fix it with the next update. I agree that golems would be amazing pets if they didn't blow everything up all the time. No matter what happens though, anyone can get caught in an explosion if it gets angry.
As for the chests, do you think I should just get rid of creepers in the tower? At first I though it would be a neat idea, but a lot of people seem to be having more trouble than I had. Seriously, a zombie on the stairs is usually a much bigger obstacle than a creeper running around.

I don't think you really have to remove the creepers. They are good and bad. They can blow up the spawners but can also blow up the floor so..
I mean, I hate that they can make you fall through floors but it makes the tower more challenging. But if you're gonna keep them for the next update aswell, can you put obsidian blocks or adminium blocks around the chests so they can't be blown up. About two blocks high each side and the block where the chest is placed is also an obsidian/adminium block. This way, the chests can't be blown up from any angle, the monsters can't get on the chests, and you can still right click the chests for the rewards.
but i like my saves D= and i don't want to crash when loading them, meh, ill install it, im sure the creator of this mod will update it frequently =P

If you get a black screen before installing Battle Towers, you didn't install ModLoader or AudioMod correctly.

Edit:: I did it again in order and I get in game can do everything but theres no towers.

CLICK THIS TOO!
Go up one, look out from the top floor and you'll be sure to see others.
