I use mcedit right now to edit my maps. but it dosnt really randomly generate a map.
I was wondering is there a map generator that will spawn randomly generated terrains with options? or do i have to load a single player map and then import it to mcedit add what i want an then put it on my smp server?
I was looking for a map that has floating islands in the sky and a fall that leads to either water or lava.
Also id like to try an under ground map where the full map is generated with just ground from top to bottom.
Lastly an simpley i wanted to get a randomly generated map that was just island chains not really mountaines is there any editor out there to do this or do i have to do it all by hand and hit has to be compatible with alpha smp server.
There is a mod called BiomeTerraid Mod. In the OP he explains how to make a floating map. Now that would only be the first step because by floating map he meant that it spawned floating ground above other ground:
If you can understand my cruddy description. But don't base your opinion off my description, here's the link: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=76184
You could go back and delete the ground underneath the floating ground with mcedit. Though this would be very time consuming and I don't know if you would want to spend that much time on it. Best of luck to you, I hope i helped in some way.
Yes, you want to try the BiomeTerrain Mod (same link as the post above mine). It can do most of the stuff you're requesting. He's still working on 100% floating islands (nothing below them at all), but the rest of the stuff you described can be done with the mod in its currently available form. It's awesome. I'm sure you'll find something to your liking while using it. Mouser X over and out.
now its not considered a hack tho? i was reading on it. it says i have to edit my minecraft file
It might be just back up your minecraft.jar if your have any worries. Does it matter if it is? Arn't you in a way hacking minecraft saves by using mcedit? I don't think there is an other way to create floating maps. Unless you want to try and give Omen a try, it supports layers to you could create a map from scratch and make it entirely floating. It has a pretty simple interface, though i have not been able to get it to work yet haha, like that of mspaint or other drawing programs. You draw with pixels that represent a kind of block. As always i wish you luck, and i hope i helped in some way.
