Alright I'm trying to install some mods that involve adding new item graphics to the game using 303's mod loader. Let's take the shears mod as an example. I downloaded the .zip file, unzipped, and now I have two .class files and a gui folder that has a .png of the shears tool. I put the .class files into my minecraft.jar and don't know what to do with the png file of the shears.
Like I said, the image of the shears is in a folder named "gui", so if I put that into my minecraft.jar, it'll overwrite the old gui folder, which probably wouldn't be good. I put just the shears.png file into the minecraft.jar to try and see if that would work. I could make the tool in the game fine, so the .class files worked; but I can't see the shears at all.
I read in other posts about "overlaying" the items.png in the gui folder, but I also read that 303's mod loader makes it so you don't have to. I'm just confused about how to go about this, sorry if this is a dumb problem. Thanks for any help.

It merges the folder, the old contents are preserved and the new ones are added.
that's not supposed to happen. I don't know what's happening there, but it's supposed to merge folders of the same name and overwrite files of the same name, so that shouldn't be happening.
