I'm on 10.6.4 and I tried to run the 0.7.2 patch using the installer.command that has the new 'sed' stuff. It doesn't work. The installer.command was initially made with the full intention of being double clicked, not run from the terminal directly.
I get these errors when double clicking the 0.7.2 installer.command:
Creating temporary folder and files for patching purposes ...
Patching files ...
/Users/isolder/Downloads/MacZan072/installer.command: line 65: cd: /tmp/minecraftpatch.mkHkPr3/zan072/: No such file or directory
Patch Successful! (I think)
Now then.. if I run the 'sed' installer a second time, the patch succeeds. This in essence creates two temporary folders.. one of them will have a 'zan072' folder inside. So it's not working right..
As for the original installer.command. If I double click (As intended) the installer.command that was used in 0.7.1 and modify the top to reflect zan072 instead of zan071 it runs without a hitch. If i run it from the shell it fails.
So I would say both installers are having trouble. Installer.command was made to cater to the masses and work with double click rather than have them use the shell.
I've had multiple reports of my installer working so long as it's double clicked, no matter what the OS X version.
Ultimately there is a problem with Minecraft/the mod on 10.5.x.
nevermind, fixed the error it was making but no minimap shows up, i give up.
A lot of new features have been added to v0.8.0, try to give feedback if you can, I need to know if this is a recurring problem.
Praise, of course, is always welcome too :wink.gif:
i was originally missing "msvcr71.dll" required to install it (it should also ask for administrator priviledges by default by the way, which it does not on win 7 64bit ultimate)
downloaded the .dll file required and tried the installer again, no noticable changes of any kind to minecraft at all.
i haven't tried the way to install it with the macintosh files as this will probably need another update because of the patch notch is adding tomorrow sometime.
big, no huge issues that i can see besides what's listed above:
the documentation of this mod is almost non-existant, from reading this thread i can assume at least that the intended key to activate the minimap is either:
1. T
2. Tab
3. Option + Tab (this one makes no sense for windows users as windows computers don't have an option key and i couldn't say if it's Alt/Ctrl/Shift/Windows-Key/Menu-Key as the non-mac equivalent)
but that's still just guessing, i'm not sure if it's any of these keys at all, i wouldn't bet against it though.
as far as praise, i will say one thing, notch should have added this himself a while ago, in my opinion anyway.
Press M for menu.
THere used to be more commands but for some reason those were done away with, which is sad.
Also Z for different zoom levels on minimap
I love this a little bit more than mrmessiahs minimap, but i cant figure out how to install this right
i mean im not dumb the files got installed in the minecraft.jar but when i start mc it didnt seem to work any suggestions

Not sure what you're talking about.
The only command(s) missing are "ver" which is redundant...
You already know the verson. Everything else can be changed via the new menu.
PLUS now you can have up to 10 waypoints, whereas before, you could only have one.

The missing dll error for msvcr71.dll is annoying.
You should include it in the download package.
I'll add a separate link for it on the main post, since most people should have that dll file on their system.
Blame sun for making their jar packager dependent on a .net runtime :tongue.gif:
Like most mods today it seems this one doesn't play nice with Minecraft v1.2.2 that notch just released today.
I have question though once this wonderful mod does start working again. Is there any way of disabling the message you get any time you load a world up about how to use the map? I know to press z and m to use it. I don't need a constant reminder every time I start the game.

I'll update it for 1.2.2 when I get home in say... 5 hours or so, I've been debating about your point though, I guess an extra option in the menu would work ok since to open the menu, you have to know how to open the menu anyway, I'll add it in quick for the 1.2.2 update.
This doesn't work in the current version of Minecraft, but in the older versions, it would work for both single player, and multiplayer. Thus, when updated, it will almost certainly work for both SP and SMP. Mouser X over and out.

Thank you, Zaneris. I really appreciate your hard work.
Not sure if anyone has come up with this yet but I wonder if for SMP it would be possible to mark other player locations on the map similar to the waypoint flag (but maybe just a dot and not an arrow pointing towards them although that would be awesome too). Perhaps that's too complex a thing to do but it sure would be nice.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Anyway, GREAT mod, works great for me on a mac!
