okay, so after installing this I noticed that when I leave hell I crash, but I don't know if this mod is to blame. If any one else has experienced this problem, let me know. Otherwise, I'll track down the problem.
Edit: Confirmed, virgin install. Copying class files into minecraft.jar manually(installer doesn't work for some reason on mac. Maybe it's just me.)
Hey, this mod is great. But I uninstalled it because I crashed while leaving the nether and lost my inventory, but I see that you just fixed it. I'll try it out again. I have a request, could you make this map work with the nether? It's just all black right now, or maybe just turn the map off while you're in the nether so it doesn't get in the way.

Just Zan and mcpatcher-1.1.7 installed - its happened twice, both times when the sun was rising and while I was breaking blocks. I'll try without mcpatcher and let you know.

This time it was as I was entering the Nether.
Fixed this for v0.7.1
Awesome, thank you. I love what you did with the mini-map. Will test it tonight.

The reason it's all black in the nether is that the nether is basically a modified cave generation algorithm, which means it's a generated sequence of "underground" chambers, which happen to fill up the entire worldbox. The whole thing is topped off with stone, and finally a layer of bedrock at the very top. Since both SimpleMap and Zan's mod are designed to look at the top layer (I assume it generates looking at everything above sea level?), what you see in the nether will be largely black, since there's nothing on those layers. Kind of like when you're exploring a cave, the minimap still shows the surface. It's just now there's no surface.
I ran the Tyr070+Zan071 Installer.bat file
Installed Tyr's mod and then patched it with Zan's mod.

It's not working for me using either of the patch methods. I get the following error message

The only way you'd get that error is if you weren't using the latest version of minecraft, v1.2.1_01 like I said already, if you want to use it with 1.2.0, you'll have to remove d.class before patching..
what would be really cool (and i'm actually trying to make one) is to make a depth gauge to show how far you below a certain level you are, and add that to the minimap to efffectively show cave systems below ground? :3
there was a thread somewhere on here about a depth gauge, and i think it'd be a sweet idea :biggrin.gif:
just a suggestion hah
if you hit TAB and type /map coords, you'jj get the coordinates displayed on your screen. the second number is your current depth.
absolutely loving this mod, by the way. will make planning out large builds tons easier.
NEEDHELP.asap My Norton internet security **** wont let me use the installer, so can you put up all the files and a readme telling how to manually install the files? Please and thanks!

I'd love to use this mod, it looks great. However, when I tried to install it with the included file (I'm on a Mac, for the record), nothing happens. I tried to install the mod with Minecrafter instead, and got a crash at the Mojang Specifications screen. The error report is:

Any help on getting it working? Thanks.
I don't know if there's anything else going wrong, but just to start with:
>>>>> Minecraft: Minecraft Alpha v1.2.0_02 <<<<<
Zan has already said at least three times that the current version will ONLY work with the CURRENT, LATEST version of the game, Alpha v1.2.1_01, and that if you have an earlier version, you will have to REMOVE the d.class file from the archive, and then patch manually. Or else, update to the current version by going to your ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft on Mac (or %APPDATA%/.minecraft in Windows), deleting the /bin subdirectory, then running the executable to force an update of the core files (note that this will REMOVE any mods or texture packs you have already installed, and that you will need an internet connection).
If you continue having problems getting it running on your Mac, as an alternative if you have access to Windows PC, you can do the following:
Install Minecraft on the PC and run it at least once. Download the self-installer executable for Zan's mod and install it using the PC instructions. Optionally, add any other mods and texture packs you want installed. Check to make sure everything is working, and then COPY the file 'minecraft.jar' from the %APPDATA%/.minecraft/bin directory - I suggest renaming it something like minecraft.zan.jar. This jar is usable on ANY platform and contains all the mods and textures you have patched it with. Then, using the most convenient means (network, flash drive, email, whatever), transfer this file to your Mac. Go to ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin, and rename the old minecraft.jar in it to something like minecraft.orig.backup.jar. Put a copy of your /new/ file from the PC into it and rename it minecraft.jar, then click on your launcher icon as normal. Minecraft will load up, completely patched. I know, it's kinda kludgy, but the various mod installers and organizers for Windows are considerably more robust and less flaky than for Mac, probably largely because most of the mod devs have limited or no access to OSX. But any patched and fully operational .jar that will run on a PC, will also run on your Mac if you can get it transfered over, IF you are running the most recent version of Java (1.6) - which under Snow Leopard, you are.
So does this minimap allow you to set waypoints? Aswell as more than one waypoint then? So I can set one at my home, travel to a place, set one there, and then use waypoints to travel back and forth?
Very nicely tuned mod. It actually has a user interface and decent looking information screens. Most impressive. More mods need interfaces like yours. In any case the minimap itself does not work for me. I am using it Alpha Survival Multi. Wasnt sure if it was multi capable but SimpleMap is. Simply put, nothing shows up in the minimap. Tab does not work either.
suggestion - can you put the coords underneath the minimap
(example)
if you could - please take off the start up credits (im down for the main menu one) but just think the start up one is alittle much.
thanks so much for this awesome mod
I think I'll add a command to permanently disable the startup popup, my reasoning behind it was just to ensure people stopped bugging me about what command is for what.
