I'm trying to get this towork, but it won't. I'm using the Painterly Texture pack,in case that has anything to do with it.
I use the Installer.bat file,and follow the instructions,selecting 1)Install or patch, 1)Install 2)Patch.
Ingame, however, there is no minimap. And tab doesn't work. I play singleplayer,if that has anything to do with this.
So,what am I doing wrong?

Don't know what you did, but I had the same problem on a mac, solved it by simply using the jar files and allowing the minimaps class files to replace the chat mods class files. Happy shiny map(and I completely ignored the meta-inf files from those archives). Of course I used my personal install script to shove the class files into the minecraft.jar.

Absolutely amazing. Automatic installer worked very well with no problems, love the rotating map and the compass, waypoints are very helpful, can't wait for more updates.

Sure,
1. Download Mac version(to get class files) from the first post in this thread.
2. Copy all files from the map plug-in folder to the chat plug-in folder(the folder that holds the class files that is). Allowing replacement of course.
3. Follow any recipe on this forum for putting class files into you minecraft.jar(I have a custom script since I do this often).
4. Play Minecraft.
If this is still too complicated I can't help you. Try it, and then AFTER it fails, say what went wrong, I have no patience for people who imagine they can know how to do something before they fail a couple of times.

I really don't know what to say. I'm speechless. The Minimap is simply amazing. The OSD help is amazing. The installer is amazing. You're amazing! If this mod broke every other mod, I'd still use this one.
Thanks!!
QUICK EDIT:
When running the .bat - on the second screen, I chose only to install the Zan Mod, but on the title screen it shows both as installed. Is it sorta like you can install "one or both", not "either or"?
EDIT 2: Could you add a 'first run' line in the options.txt - setting it to false will disable the initial help screen.
okay, so after installing this I noticed that when I leave hell I crash, but I don't know if this mod is to blame. If any one else has experienced this problem, let me know. Otherwise, I'll track down the problem.
Edit: Confirmed, virgin install. Copying class files into minecraft.jar manually(installer doesn't work for some reason on mac. Maybe it's just me.)

Um... I like this mod a lot! One issue though... I am using a mac (no other mods installed) and it works perfectly on multiplayer, but 'Tab' does not work in single player... Any ideas?
Thanks in advance...

Aha, thanks for pointing that out, I'll release a fix asap.
I'm greatly confused. The help I got for installing this was less than helpful.
I'm running a Windows system, and I'm trying to get this minimap addon to work for minecraft. I used the Installer thing that came with the .ZIP download of the Windows version, but I still don't have the minimap. Does anyone know how to get this working?

So the class files from the mac version didn't work? Or did you just not download them because you thought I didn't know what I was talking about. If it's the former, please post the results of that attempt along with WHAT EXACTLY you HAVE done. If it's the latter, try following my directions, then posting the results of where exactly it went wrong.
Since instructions on how to mod minecraft are literally everywhere on this forum, and since this mod comes with an installer, I am absolutely confused as to WHAT EXACTLY went wrong.
Of course without YOU posting WHAT YOU DID EXACTLY, there is no way a person without psychic abilities can help you. Unless you get lucky and someone with your exact configuration(which you DON'T describe) happens to have exactly the same problem as you and fixed it themselves.
There's no such thing as a stupid question. But there are stupid ways to ask questions.

I done what you said,or at least tried. It didn't work, and quite frankly,I'm left wondering, after this procedure, why you told me to download the Mac version when I explicitly stated, each and every time,I used a Windows OS. Windows =/= Mac
Anyway, simply put, when I try to install the minimap,it simply doesn't appear on the interface. How the hell do I fix this problem?

Of course, but you see the Mac version HAS class files, which are UNIVERSAL. The PC version doesn't, so which one would you recommend if a manual install is required? And after following my instructions, did it black screen or did it run without a minimap?
