Woots! Another awesome mod. *downloads* That's twice now you've made a must-have mod, you're on a roll! *bookmarks thread*
Awh, thanks! -^^- I'm glad people appreciate what I'm making!
Quote from wolfkun »
Your equivalent exchange mod.. I'd like it to include brightstone/glowstone.
Make them drop 4 powders so we can make a full brightstone block per block harvested.. or at most make the harvested block drop!
I think it's silly how you can sometimes get no powder from it currently..
Hrm. Honestly, I haven't had much time to explore Hell! T_T I've gotten a couple pieces of Bloodstone once, before I was chased out by Ghasts, but I hadn't gone back to find any of the other new blocks yet!
I should go exploring soon... once I find out for myself how the new blocks behave, I might see how it can be improved upon :3
No offense, but I'd rather not look it up just yet, or have anyone explain it to me. Please bear with me until I find out on my own xD I'd like it better that way.
BUT! You gave me a brilliant bit of insight here! o.o "drop 4 powders" reminds me of Redstone Ore, if nothing else... there must be something in that script that I could use to fix a few other things... I'm on it!!
EDIT Woo! I'm halfway there! I actually fixed the half-step mod, so it no longer needs the recipes >.< With what I've got now, PW.CLASS allows for double half-step blocks to drop -two- single half steps upon breaking! :biggrin.gif:
MUCH THANKS to you, wolfkun! You deserve a for sparking the idea x3 It was really pretty simple, once I took a closer look!
I keep releasing these mod updates pretty quickly... so I think I'm going to hold off on v0.4 until I fix one other problem as well. Wooden/Cobblestone stairs. Normally they drop one piece of wood / cobblestone. I can't get them to drop stair blocks when they break... and I can't even get them to drop -anything- except what they usually do! The stairs blocks simply work a little differently (despite them sharing the same methods as wood and cobblestone).
I thought about making them drop one -or- two pieces, although with some luck, you'd end up with more wood than you started with, ahaha. ><; Sadly though, I can't even pull -that- off. Honestly, if I can't figure out how to fix it, it's not a huge loss. You still end up with four out of the original six blocks needed to recreate another set of stairs... and both cobblestone and wood are very common.
Despite the new knowledge, I still don't think I can fix Storage / Powered Minecarts. But maybe I'll add Ice blocks to the list, too? :3 Feed me ideas, people!
They're coming quickly so far! I keep trying new things out, adding bit-by-bit. Hope you guys don't mind!
EXchange v0.4 is out, and it finally fixes the Half-Step problem cleanly! Double / Stacked half-steps break into two pieces now, so there's nothing to worry about with Mod Loader, or anything silly. Still, you'll always find the original version in a sub-folder from now on, in case you really liked it for some reason!
v0.4 also adds Ice variants! Melting Ice, or Waterless, both variants will let Ice Blocks drop Ice Blocks.. so get out there and build an igloo or something! xD Again, the second version's in a sub-folder, clearly marked. See the README.txt or OP for details~
No more modding for tonight! Time to explore Hell a bit more ;3 Thanks for all the support, guys!

Oooo, new features. *downloads the new version* You're spoiling us, my friend.
I actually had an idea, I'm not if it's even possible, but.... Armor Stands. Something to hang armor off of, perhaps using a "mannequin" style setup with a Player body (so that it can "wear" the armor, showing it off.) Something to display your armor and use to decorate your hovel/house/castle.
>_>' Again, I have no idea if it's even possible, so don't worry too much about it. If I come up with any more ideas I'll toss 'em your way
Ahaha, my own productivity is running you ragged, eh? ;3 Sorry for the constant updates! >.< I didn't think I'd get so much done so soon, yanno.

Armor Stands, huh? Hrm... it sounds kinda cool. Like showing off spiffy armor statues down a castle hallway, or something! Unfortunately, I doubt I have the skill to do something like this...
From what I can imagine, I'd need to learn how to render a new GUI template (or at least borrow Sunrise_78's Bridge Block code!) to add things to the armor stand, then I'd have to have the armor render onto the armor stand as it would a player, right?
Sounds like a real luxury decoration mod! But... I kinda like the idea actually xD Man. I guess I can sniff around the code tomorrow, but I won't blame someone else for finishing such a mod long before I do!
Hey Ayu, I have a bit of advise for you on the armor stand thing. I also play TES4, and make mods for it, (mostly mod collection display rooms and such), and I ran into the trying to figure out the best way to display the armors for that game, (there are more than the code of minecraft). What I found was another mod that Actually had armor stands. And from what I understand of it, they basically just made the stand be a copy of the player, with some code in it so that it wouldn't move.
In simple terms, try finding a way of making a 2 block tall object, (look at code for doors), that is basically a copy of the player frozen in place, (check player code, duh). Have it so that when you right-click on the stand, you get what looks like you inventory screen only the four armor slots are for the armor stand, and the first quickbar slot is for giving the armor stand a tool, (player code again). Make it so tha tthe stand can't be destroyed when you have items in/on it.
Thrilled you fixed halfblocks, and I love the sound of getting ice blocks from ice... but how does the melting work, exactly? When does it happen?
Melting is something that happens normally when you break an Ice block (in unmodded clients as well). The ice breaks, then it runs some code to determine if it should place block of flowing or stationary water where the ice used to be. I honestly don't know what variables go into the functions, or what it actually "decides", but the output is ne.B.bi (flowing water) and ne.C.bi (still water). There's another piece of code I don't understand as well... whatever it does, it prevented me from destroying Ice blocks entirely! They'd "shatter", make a noise, but... failed to disappear, or drop anything. I quickly fixed that, though! Heh >.<
In the first Ice Block mod, I left in the water "melting" code, and the Ice just pops out in addition to the melting. When I experimented with this, however, I wasn't -too- pleased with all the extra water I had created while building and replacing stuff, ahaha!
Thus, I made a second variant that simply erased the "melting' code, creating what I consider a "Big Dumb Block", that does nothing but pop out block babies for you to build things with :tongue.gif:
Something else I realized (and I'm sure most of you probably already knew this before I figured it out >.<) is that with the biomes update, there's the lack of falling snow... and, despite cold temperatures, ice and snow do NOT replace themselves (read : refreeze) when you break them :\ This is true in reverse... I don't notice ice or snow melting in "warmer" biomes, although I'm actually uncertain if there's any changes with the torch fire melting things.
The "melting" ice block is more convenient when the water refreezes, for two reasons. It allows you to harvest ice without scarring the landscape terribly, and creates an easily renewable resource. Still, considering at the moment it doesn't refreeze, I think the "waterless" ice is simply easier to deal with for now >.<

Rawr, this is a bit of an interesting subject! It's definitely another option, to be sure. The only thing I'm wondering is how hard it may be to change the skin of the "player" to something else, like a mannequin.
You did mention the code for doors... which is another point. It makes me curious if "extra" layers like armors or player hat skins can be applied to more than just player models and mobs, or other blocks as well. If I knew anything about how textures were applied to mobs, perhaps I could even introduce a new, stationary mob type (that spawns when placing a certain object, and drops said object when "killed") instead of a player model.
Setting the armor is an issue, too... but with the ability to code right-click events for blocks -or- mobs, it shouldn't be too hard to add a "chest interface" like Sunrise_78's if I need to.

Something like that most likely. Again, I have no idea if it's even possible, it's just a random idea I had while digging gold. ^_^' If that's not possible, then maybe the ability to turn armor into "Armor Blocks?" A block that appears to be the armor as rendered on the player, but is just another construction block? I'm not sure how the armor textures work compared to regular Block textures. :/
Edit: The method Creeper talked about is similar to how mannequins work in Morrowind mods. The mannequin is really just an NPC with a script attached that keeps it Paralyzed at all times, while giving the player the ability to add armor and/or clothing to it. Another script makes it wear said equipment. Not sure how that would be replicated here, though,.
Ayutashi, i just wanted to come back and let you know how pleased i am with the leaf block mod. I have been denuding the country side of all it's foliage in preparation for my next big project. A massive tree that reaches to the top of the map. As soon as i finish up my bio dome project i will start on it. I was wondering what i was going to build after the bio dome and your mod gave me the answer. It should be a blast to build.
Now i see you have created some more nifty mods! I really like being able to recover glass. The dome i built was over 3,000 glass blocks. Man i wish i would of had this then! I've downloaded your other mods and just wanted to say thanks. Good job.
Oh and Ayu, if it was just one person making mods, OSMS wouldn't even be needed, but since so many people make them, and rather quickly as time passes, it can get kind of tiring. But seeing all these awsome pieces of coade collected, sorted, and organized into one place gives me some sort of feeling of satisfaction at having helped clean something up, or something like that.
I spend more time on the upkeep of OSMS, and editing together my mega map, than I do actually playing MineCraft. It's kinda sad really, but hey, it's fun anyway.

Well, it's great that you're doing all that work for us! Lots of people appreciate things like that, you know! :happy.gif: Keeping up with everything so quickly is just as hard as all this modding!

Could you release an exchange mod with just the Bookshelf and Half-step. Please?
No. No no no no no xD I refuse! Seriously, the EXchange .rar was built to collect them all into -one- spot! I included a README.txt file so you guys could hand-pick which ones you like :\ Thusly, it's not practical to upload more than one version, as you don't -need- to install all of them. I believe I stated this in the main post here, and... it's called a README file for a reason!!
On another note, I'm glad people enjoy my mods! I wish I could do more for you guys, but for such a novice programmer, it's pretty taxing as-is xD I'll try to improve, so some other newbie can fill my shoes and do the tiny bits, like I'm doing now~

Hrmmph. I had given thought to simply making a 2x3 extra-large door-ish block, if I had to (larger to compensate for the way armor would be added on top), but even then, I don't know how to customize the -type- of armor on it! So it'd be easier to deal with the mob/player renders I bet.
For now, I'm going to do some home-made recipes, like I stated earlier... I still haven't gotten those done for myself! xD I was gonna check out the "customizable recipes" mod, but I can't download it; seems the author has had trouble with where he's hosting the mod.
After I get done with that... well, I might actually make it far enough into the portal today to experiment with the new hell blocks >< See if sulfur can be "fixed". Beyond that, I'm open for suggestions! Small ones, please! x3
Ahahaha... Good point, Creeper >.<; I'll check it out! I haven't had any time to even -think- about it, still, unfortunately. So I guess that's why I keep spacing so much :sad.gif:
I'm currently researching how to turn Sand -> Glass when Lava falls onto it. Tricky tricky stuff it seems...
Also, I have an update in the works that I hope Risugami won't be too upset about xD But he created ModLoader for a reason! So it should be cool~

May I ask why you didnt want to do the chicken meat mod?
Just curious.
Yeah, I know I'm being really stubborn about things :\ The biggest reason is I don't want to have anyone's chests or worlds screwed up when Notch updates things again. If you have Chicken Meat in your inventory, or a chest, the client will crash when the mod isn't installed. If it's inside your inventory, you can INVedit it out easily, but chests with Chicken Meat would break entirely. I know there are ways around all this, but it's more of a hassle in case someone doesn't get an update out immediately.
I suppose I could release it with a "use at your own risk!" warning, but... meh. Do people really miss the extra meat that much? xD
Well, this one's more of an extension, to be honest! It expands upon Risugami's Arrow Mod, and it's REALLY fun to mess around with xD
It's kind of surprise, but.. I'll let you know I've modified Egg Arrows and introduce Slime Arrows as a new item. I even have a new item overlay for you guys!
Have fun, everybody! And... I'm not responsible for any destruction caused to your homes by Slime Arrows. You have been warned! ;3
