I haven't really fiddled with minetracks at all in the game (mostly play on SMP), so sorry if it's an obvious question, but why would you want plates to function as tracks?

So that carts can trigger wooden or stone plates. You can do a lot of complex things with those, I personally use it to create a runaway minecart retrieval system. Basically, if a minecart runs away down the track, and reaches the end, and triggers a wooden plate, but not the stone one (cause no one is inside), I branch it to a separate track where it gets bounced back to me.

Nice... now all I need is a mod to make empty mine carts and storage carts to drift like they do when the player is in them and I will be set for life.

Cast aside your festive doylaks: dragon stuff is about to happen.
Multiplayer is lonely once you understand how it actually works.
Without AutoCart it's a bit weird, the plates drastically slow down your tracks, other than that, it's quite cool, with a system of boosters, you could create "stopping-stations" where your cart could stop and you could unload a whole bunch of stuff into a chest. Hurrah!
Thanks. My only problem is carts zooming off at full speed away from me, I'd prefer a short slow period for me to jump in, unless someone can suggest something easier. I'm a bit of a minecart noob.
I found an oddity. My track skipped a block over the water and the kart ended up completely submerged. I smacked it a few times to pick it up, aaaand now I have two karts!

Really Strange. I'll look into it.

The auto cart version isn't working. When I get in, it should be going full speed yeah? I also smacked it a few times to test it.
Well, I put the two files in my jar and I notice no difference. I go over my plates a little easier, do I have to have the older version installed ( Of auto cart? ) I had your v1 installed, would that conflict v1.2 with auto cart?
Does it boost automatically, do I push it, do I hit it, what do I do?
Hello there, I just have one question that you can probably answer.
I followed all your steps that the readme had said. When I went to start up the game, it wouldn't start and the screen would stay black. If you could please tell me a fix for this, that would be helpful.

Don't install new versions over old versions. Delete your client and start again. Alternatively, use a mod installer.

Black screen means you installed it improperly. Either you installed it to a pre-halloween, or installed the old version to the post-halloween version. Delete your Minecraft.jar and try again. Use a mod installer if you still can't get it.

May I suggest using stone pressure plates as boosters that only work when provided with current.
That is until you figure out how to add new items.

Well, I tried running Minecraft, but it wouldn't start without the minecraft.jar file.

Without the Minecraft.jar it should redownload it automatically.

Yeah, it's not perfect.
Really Strange. I'll look into it.
It is working. I'd check your installation.

It gets stuck at 'Done Loading'.

Okay, that worked. So, next I should use the mod installer to install the Pressure Plate Pack?
