judges ftw! But yes, I do believe doing a set of blocks every 3 days would take too long. An idea that I feel is natural is just have people submit textures at any time. If nobody likes it, we ignore it and wait for another one to pop up.
i just felt that would be a good idea so peoples contributions dont get lost in the flood so to speak.
and if you do it in sets there would be 7:
-Dirt + grass (self explanitory)
-trees + wood (planks, leaves)
-plants (wheat, mushrooms, reeds, cacti)
-Rocks + ores (self explanitory, includes obasabien and adminium)
-Crafting +utility (dukebox, furnace, wb, chests)
-Crafted + redstone (doors, tourches, mincart tracks)
-Construction (glass, cobblestone, halfsteps and bookshelves)
I like the idea of sets. I'll take a look at the textures tonite and break them up into the groups/sets and post them into the OP.
Now, should people do any set any time they like, or should it be one set every few days?
In other words, complete Dirt+Grass, then voting on Dirt+Grass begins. During the voting, everyone begins work on Trees+Wood, as stated in an earlier post.

Alright alright, that's just another poll before we can get started though :/ But if people want to, then as soon as a theme is decided I will post a poll asking if people want 16x16 or 32x32. Should i throw in any higher resolutions?
No point, keep it 16x16 if you whant more people to participate cause quite a few people (like me) who like the idea of contributing but havent done a texture before wont be able to join in past the voting because they wont be able to.
if someone whants to take the finished 16x16 pack and bump up the resolution then that would be better than doing it straight 32x32 on a diversity point.
and hey, that way all the 16x and 32x users can enjoy the pack.
You provide good points, and i'll be sticking with 16x16. That saves us another poll. If after this pack is done and we are (mostly) happy with the result, i'll start another thread for a 32x32 By the People. Then we can start with a fresh theme and everything. But for now, it's staying 16x16, so everyone can join in easily.
Thanks all for the suggestions on how to run this thing, feel free to send me a PM if you have ideas also, i'll be sure to see it & respond to you personally.
Will we vote on specific users' entries, or specific tiles. That is an incredibly and unintentionally obfuscated question. Lets try this again.
So, when we vote, will each option represent the user who posted an entire section of tiles for the overall texture, or will each option represent each tile that each user creates. The former would result in a somewhat stiff and skewed towards a specific user, the latter would be pretty rediculous in scale.
Just wondering. I'm sure it will be organic in execution.
@Arghore: I dunno, I tend to prefer 16 x 16 packs over higher res versions. My least favorite packs tend to be 64x and higher. I love Doku's RPG pack, and a couple others. But I prefer 16 x 16.
I don't think so. My main intention was to use the polls so it could be decided by everyone involved and anyone who frequented this thread. Having judges would do away with the democracy involved and leave the decisions to a select few, rather than everyone.

-Dirt + grass (Also sand and gravel)
-trees + wood (planks, leaves)
-plants (wheat, mushrooms, reeds, cacti, and flowers)
-Rocks + ores (self explanitory, includes obasabien and adminium)

-Crafted + redstone (doors, tourches, mincart tracks)
-Construction (glass, cobblestone, halfsteps and bookshelves)
Other than that, I think the judges should be the people! Not by making another poll-- but having everyone having
"Yes To Person who submitted a pack's Dirt + grass textures."
or
No to Person who submitted a pack's Stone + Ores textures."
Then we just count the yeses and nos in the forums and whoop-de-do! I'ts a democracy!
I for one support the 16x resolution and may be contributing because of it.
I don't do textures that requires mods to work as most of my friends wouldn't be able to properly enjoy them.

Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.
If you want to make a poll for each one, you'd have to make 7 or more topics.
I know you have a lot more experience with the polls because of your vote the top 10 texture packs thread.
I assumed once this first poll was over, i could begin a fresh one on the same thread. Is this not the case?
Right i'm going to get in early with my plant set. i am no pixel artist so they dont look briliant but hergoes:
(I have tried to post images and stuff before with no luck so i hope this works)
Edit: not working D:
it wasnt very good but i am practicly dead at the moment so if someone can just give me posting images for dummies that would be great.

Though how would we determine the authority of the judges?

I've come up with a new voting process, info up in the OP. Gonna need help from people to make it run smoothly, however.
No they are not >.>
I should probably fix that. Like the OP says, i did a pretty bad job at making the 'Sets'. I will add sand & gravel to that now.
