Everyone here is wondering what's going on. Those of us with patience know that MrM has yet to post, therefore there is absolutely nothing anyone can do about it.
* Implemented a new lighting engine with the help of MrMessiahs (can be turned off)
I think it's more than a rumor.

Wrong. Notch said it in the official 1.3 patch notes. All you have to do is read them. They're in your face when you launch the game, and they're on Notch's blog.

Fixed that for you
The thing none of you thought of is that even if it says that MrMessiah helped him out, it does not mean that either MrMessiah was contacted directly by anyone from Mojang nor does it say that they used his implementation. Due the fact that when they implemented the new smooth light feature we got a series of bugs MrMMods had in its earlier days. This could indicate that Mojang made everything from scratch, only using MrMessiahs idea, and therefor made the same mistake as him.
As conclusion, MrMessiah only helped Mojang with their code, not implemented. Either directly, or indirectly.
. . . you generally do not get similar code by re-implementing something, there's so many ways to code any particular thing, that would be extremely unlikely . . .
In any case, I'm glad it's in nonetheless, and I do hope MrMessiah comes back soon to clarify everything.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
When all is said and done, Will you have said more than you have done?

Nobody is discussing the extent to which and/or how MrMessiah "helped" Mojang. People are simply rightly pointing out that he in fact did, according to Notch.

And then incorrectly saying things like that he actually helped incorporate it in (As in got hired to do it).

I didn't say that they wrote the exact code but only got the same result as previous versions of MrMMod. As a programmer myself I know it's incredibly impossible for two programmers to implement the same feature the same way. Even if the result is the same it doesn't mean that the code is that too.

No, they are claiming that it is the exact code when we know it isn't verified. Therefor I gave out my conclusion on the subject.

Exactly my point. We don't know yet how MrMessiah helped Mojang, but we do know he at least gave them the idea.
This Obviously doesn't concern any of you people it is between Mr Messiah, and Notch. Go back to your everyday posting of how great this mod is but please no more fighting over it.
So I'm going to go ahead and have fun with this and make assumptions since everyone else is.
What if they implemented betterlight or their version of it. Without so much as even asking him first, or they asked him and he said no and then they did it anyway. Then in turn it pissed him off and now he's never going to update this or bettergrass ever again?
I have followed this mod closely since it's first version and it has never taken him this long to update it after a patch, so at this point people should be speculating, so I thought I'd throw you guys this idea and let you run with it.
This is in no way fact, and is just purely speculation on my part, I'm just looking at the facts, the situation, and his lack of updating or even giving an update on the status.
The last thing he even posted was on the 19th and it was about him being "in the dark" about them adding better light. He hasn't logged into the forum in 2 days just thought I would throw these facts at you.
This is where this theory has come from :smile.gif:
I hope I'm wrong but I have a bad feeling that our favorite modder may have thrown in the towel.
I'm going to just throw this out here, but you're all so caught up in your petty selfish "needs" that you aren't even trying to leave the pathetically small box you call your perception. Programmers aren't machines, they dont just pump out mods for you to enjoy, they eat, sleep, live their lives, everything you do. Have you ever thought perhaps he has a life aside from minecraft? Maybe hes having family problems, maybe just straight up life problems. Stuff happens, stop over analyzing every word and event and chill out. Give the guy a break, he doesn't exactly get paid for this, you should be thankful hes even maintained the mod up until this point. Chill, live your lives, theres more to life than minecraft. Patience is key, answers will come in due time.
You have a point there, cferrill1. It sounds like Mojang added their SmoothLight without telling MrMessiah anything about it, even if they are giving him credits for "helping" them. This could mean that either MrMessiah was "dragged into the dark" or that he's working with them in secret, meaning they are holding him in a string telling him to not tell a thing about what happens at Mojang.
It is a bit odd that he keeps logging in but never give us a hint after the update of what really happened.
And a little thinker: There was a new employee at Mojang not long time ago. Maybe that's him? If he doesn't login while Mojang are away and suddenly does when they come back, isn't that theory worth testing?

hey hey hey guys
stop with the assumptions, okay?
Im pretty sure Mojang DID tell him, and most likely he even cooperated with them, and im pretty sure hes just not at home right now.
especially you guys saying he left because mojang stole it. all your posts are gonna do is to anger all the people here.
It is only assumptions and theories and shouldn't be taken too seriously until they have been verified.
Also, isn't it fun to imagine things? Most people does it here while they are playing Minecraft.
got error "Could not find the main class" when i choose to open with javaw.exe
tha fak
Need to be a bit more specific with your problem, like what you did, the error message you received etc.
All jar files instead to be "Executable Jar File" are deafultly opened by WinRar. I have to manually choose em to be opened by javaw.exe. When i do it i get Error "Could not find the main class. Program will clsoe now"
I searched over 200, 000 results on google searchs and found lots of fixes wich didnt worked.
HALP !
Don't make them opened by WinRAR by defalt, make it java.
when i use this it makes the sides of my grass look like stone , im using cferrills pack .
TY though !
must have wild grass , better grass , shaders must have wild grass , better grass , shaders must have wild grass , better grass , shaders must have..........
naaa man its great just a few bugs thats all , just seems to be placing the wrong texture other then that works great , your gonna make alot of people happy :smile.gif:
and yea i got the wildgrass (thx to that guy too!!!!) just saying you gotta have those mods for fun!!!!
Stop playing minecraft after every single patch in fact, until these must-have mods are updated.
Sigh.
took the words right out of my mouth. I think the answer is obvious though, not if, when.
