I have a problem running this patch on my Mac, the patcher always freezes at 7% knowing that I followed the exact steps as shown in the OP, I've also unchecked "Enable access for assistive devices" but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I'm running the latest versions of the game and Java.
P.S: I tried to read the last couple of pages but I didn't see anything related to my problem but the thread is too massive so I apologize in advance if it's already been mentioned.
I don't understand, why isn't this thread being locked like all the other non-updated mods? SimpleMap and BetterGrass have both been updated but aren't in patcher format (meaning they aren't compatible with a lot of the mods out there). Simplemap should be compatible with everything as long as you install it before things like the HD Texture Fix.
BetterGrass has been made compatible with lots of other mods, but these compatibility patches are scattered across the forums right now. Might want to try a google search.

I've got the sidegrass working, but I can't seem to get the map back again. I think I'm copying everything correctly.
First, I delete my bin folder from .minecraft. Then starting with a fresh bin, I copy in the simplemap files and folders. Then do the grass fix, run my HD patch for johnsmithV7, and it locks up or runs everything except the map. Any ideas?
I haven't been able to get your patcher to work for a while. I had it working on Beta 1.2. There's nothing to say this doesn't work with beta 1.3 so I'm assuming it does. Here is a copy of the patcher output:

I quickly looked at your faq on the front page and this looks different to me than all the problems there so I thought I'd post. I'm sorry if this is a nooby question, I'm normally pretty good with this kind of stuff. I have Misa's 64x64 texture pack installed and that patcher works. But your patcher won't finish whether I try to use it before installing the texture pack or after it. I have the latest Java JDK for Windows x64 installed in Program Files. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks.
<Edit> Thought it was worth mentioning I'm using the most recent version of the patcher, and that I'm only trying to install Better Light and Better Grass.

Anyway, notch added better light to the 1.3 update.Seeing as you dont know that mods break at every update, ill also assume that you are new to adding mods.

Same with me. I would enjoy it if BetterGrass worked, since my grass is going haywire with an HD texture pack, but nowhere does it say which version BetterGrass is for.

I lost 50fps going to 1.3. Something is fundamentally different, and it doesn't work on higher end video cards.
Jeb fixed the light shining trough corner bug, he said so on twitter, either he was fixing BL up for official release, or he made smooth light from scratch and just happen to encounter the same bug, I think the latter is most likely especially since he had been working so much on lots of stuff and nearing the release he was suddenly fixing BL'ish bugs. Maybe it was that fix which had an impact on performance?
Advize's bettergrass fix is working great, and you still get the sidegrass bug fixed if you want.
