The pack is about 100% done. Still revising as I go.
Information:
This texture pack is made with 128x128 px tiles. That means the complete image when done will be 2048x2048. Each texture on this pack is composed with at least with 4 or more layers as well as a few layers of adjustment layers, blending masks. The goal is to be semi realistic and seem life like but has their own cartoony flare to them. So don't expect it to look 100% like the real thing. It's more a projection of reality than a imitation.
"To Do" List:
-Revise gold, iron, diamond blocks.
-Make the orange/reds on the iron ores have more contrast.
-Sand and stone must have a bit more personality.
-Finish all untextured blocks.
-Revise custom water and fire
-Revise Minetracks.
-Revise halfsteps.

I will no longer bother answering questions on my thread relating to errors and glitches unless it is something not common. You can find the HD texture fix HERE.

Feel free to comment and critique. I tend to rework a lot of textures to fit the liking of the majority. Alternate textures, and textures that did not pass will be made available once the pack is complete.
I know I'm interested in this myself, but I probably won't be able to use it until new year's, when my new computer is going to be finished. Even then, that's only me. Your other one looks good enough to warrant a Super HD skin, though, if you're going to make one.
would definitely like to see this, even if just to see how viable it is in game. (i would find it easier to make a 64x64 or 128x128 tp is all) so +1 to a sample of this.
This sounds intriguing but I'll be a little disappointed if going forward with this means you won't be finishing your 32x32 pack as that is a size I'm far more likely to use for regular play.

Oh I'm not going to forget about it. I'll probably reverse engineer it for 64 and 32 tile sets once I finish it.

I'd be interested in the amount of detail you can accomplish with a 128x128 texture pack. Mind telling me what art style you'd be going for?
Realistic, simplistic, RPG, Anime, Cell shaded?
As of now I'm doing realistic so anyone planning to start a 128x128 has something to jump off of.
Here is a little picture i whipped up, just found a 128x128 grass texture on google to show what it would possibly look like at that resolution, so i just plugged it in the palette where the grass goes, (that is why everything else is white), and i am using HD texture fix of course so it would load the game.
oh and it just started to get night time when i snapped this picture so that is why it is a little dark.
and if anyone didn't know a 128x128 texture pack would be a 2048x2048 palette.
so i of course say go for it, id love to see a complete pack at this resolution!
hehe or possibly a 256x256 that would be total eye candy xD.
What are your specs? So I can compare them to my own, anyways. It'd be nice to have a reference.
2048x2048 isn't That big of a canvas. ;o
I routinely deal with images that are around 95-100MP (~25 * * * x 15 * * *) with just a gig more than the thread OP.
1-1.5GB TIFFs ftw. :tongue.gif:
Any program such as CS3/GIMP should be able to handle them nicely. They memory swap like a charm.
What I want to know is how any one computer can handle giga-pixel images. My PC croaks at around 120-140MP.
@OP
Good luck with your project. :smile.gif:
Edit:
Just use Dropbox public folder or MediaFire. You can always place the PNG inside an archive. It should only be around 3-4MB as a noncompressed PNG.
I'm currently using photoshop cs4 to create these images. And yes the canvas is huge but that's how big 128x128 tilesets will be. Here's a teaser and proof of what I've done so far.
I'll post more as I go, but for now here's all I got. Critique early so I can change it to the likings of others.
Edit: All textures make a seamless pattern so far.
I think if you are doing a "realistic" pack i would not have so much of a vibrant green for grass and what not, since this is going to be a 128x128 pack you can see a good amount of detail in the grass and if you have vibrant colors it might come out more surreal looking than real...
like look at the picture i posted above, that grass was just pulled from google images, i don't know the source so i will not be releasing that by any means just wanted to show how the quality would turn out.

I run an Nvidia Geforce 8800 gtx
AMD Phenom 2 x4 Processor
3 Gig ram (Don't remember the brand or specs)
I run high end games maxed.
If this isn't what you're asking, please clarify.
