So thanks to the HD texture fix being able to support 128x128 tilesets, I'm planning to get cracking on making a super HD 128x128 texture mod. The thing I would like to know is, would you download it if it's at that size? It has minor lag upon loading and I feel a slight frame rate drop when using the tileset. Other than that it's playable.
Edit: I'd like to know because this will be a long project and I don't want to abandon my current one to find out that all the work didn't pay off. =P
I absolutely would download and install it if it is any good at all!
Are the textures in the screenshot what is making it a slideshow for you? If so let me try them, I am curious to see how my box handles them. I always want to recommend things to people but it is hard to judge how well they will work on normal boxes.
I think I may have just lost all the data on my secondary HDD. :|
After restarting my computer the drive won't initialize. (it may have something to do with the fact that I recently re-formatted it to exFAT. (Windows7 doesn't like internal drives using that file system ;D)
Right now I'm doing a Low level format of the HDD. I'll have to see if I have a backup of those files anywhere.
Edit_1:
I don't have a backup. :sad.gif:
Just resize a random terrain.png to 4096x4096 and install it with the HD tex pack fix.
That should give you the same result.
Something else interesting I noticed about MC when using 256x256 textures:
MC hardly uses your GPU/VRAM! = /
everything is pretty much handled via your CPU.
So far looking great! I've just read this thread and 128x128 sounds like a good idea. But it would be definitely good if you could reverse engineer down to 64x64 or 32x32. Also, does using these higher res. pictures cause the problem of 'static water and lava?

Use that program to install the texture pack. Read the instructions carefully.
I haven't worked on the lava and water yet. Since the ore's appearance has been on high demand for retexturing, I've been working on it for quite some time now.
Could you make a version of the ores without the shine? I could try creating a spec map and have it reflect light in real-time for a nicer effect. Here's your cobblestone with more detail:

Umm . . . why use exFAT?
Allot of reasons. :ohmy.gif:
Its easier on the CPU/RAM than NFTS/FAT32.
Practically unlimited partition space.
Faster read/write than NFTS/etc.
Fragmentation is greatly reduced do to it's structure.
File size limit is in the exabytes.
Edit:
exFAT is also better for flash drives than the other file structures.
Its much more efficient which decreases the write cycles on the drive.
Upping the detail to 128x128 means a lot of extra work for you to get it right. So far looking good. I applaud your efforts so far and appreciate the hard work you're obviously putting into it, I know how hard it can be to get things right at 32x32, let alone 128x128. Forge ahead, man!
I'm bookmarking this and anything else to do with these higher res. textures to see how they go.
Too bad it woud just kill my comp, because just with Mixcraft HD it lags u_u
Constructive comment: Use the ones with "half-planks", the ones that don't have the whole plank in them.. Or in better words, the secon-to-last row.
- Imperial Lands by lolo500
- PortalCraft by Leggos_My_Eggos
Mods & Tools I support:
- DJoslin's Creations by DJoslin
- mIDas by Pfaeff
- Programmable CPU by Biohazard
I absolutely would download and install it if it is any good at all!
Edit: looking good so far!
Have you tried Minecraft AutoMap?
All of them will be available with the pack as alternate textures. Yeah I prefer the half planks but people keep thinking it's a brick texture. ._.'

Top middle and left second from bottom are best, imo.
