When I bought minecraft alpha, I was somewhat surprised of the lack of more modern items. So, I'm taking matters into my own hands, and making a tech upgrade package!! I plan on keeping all the blocks the same, but modifying the item textures. I plan on making the replacements for diamond tools, along with several other items, like a PDA instead of a compass. I already have 4 textures working. A Drill like shovel replacement for the diamond shovel, a lightsword replacement for diamond sword, and a dart-ish gun for the bow. I made the icon for arrows look like high-tech ammo cartridge, and made the arrows themselves look along the lines of a large bullet. I plan on making more things in the future, and will post them all here. Screenshots and possibly video coming soon.
LATER THAT SAME DAY.......
Back, and have a showcase of 'em all so far.
EDIT:
So, the fourms don't like my widescreen. Posting link instead.
I know what you mean. I started this because my friend wanted some replacement things for his server, and I just sort of looked into making things like this.
I actually like the concept. Find a situation where things like this would be used. Try and also texture the actual terrain as well to match the theme.
Tenkin, the charming part of Minecraft is it can be anything you want it to be. If you want it to be a game where you've crashlanded on an alien planet with facehuggers and pedobears, all you have to do is find/make the textures, and then play the game that way. There's really no standard of what Minecraft is about, simply because almost every single aspect of the game is completely open to interpretation.
