I applaud anyone who does this and actually makes it look good in true white (or green for REALLY oldskool nethack) on black.
Myself, I copped out and used images from Mike Mayday's DF graphics pack when doing a DF themed texture for my wife.
(I'm not sharing that till I actually PM him on the DF forums and get an OK since it's not my art.)

Just filled in some holes, and made cobblestone more distinguished.
If i i had the time, i would make it accurate to dwarf fortress, but i'm too busy with work.
Using the graphical limitations of Nethack, of course.
Could also double as a dwarf fortress texture pack.
Here using texture in the least sense of the word.
I think it'd be pretty easy to do.
Hint: think ASCII if you've never heard of Nethack or Dwarf Fortress.
