I'd like to know what people think. Its impossible to know whether or not at this point any of these will even be possible in the future, but we can hope!
"Game modifications can be discussed and provided here"
So you see a better forum for this? I thought of putting it in Alpha or general discussion, but this seemed the best place.
Minecraft is not moddable yet. You can make custom servers, but they are frowned upon by Notch, and you can change client textures, images, and sounds. This is all.
Any tools you write for the game from scratch belong to you.
You're free to do whatever you want with screenshots and videos of the game, but don't just rip art resources and pass them around.
Plugins for the game also belong to you and you can do whatever you want with them, including selling them for money.
It's very obvious from this that Notch is absolutely thrilled when someone makes something for minecraft and shares it, as long as it isn't a modified version of something he has written. This means bytecode editing for the official client/server and redistributing it.
TL:DR; Don't shoot the people who make custom content for you to enjoy, It's what Notch wants, and we are all here to have fun.
On another note, stop spamming the thread with useless off topic chatter.
Not even Zombie survival in an underground base like resident Evil?
I like this idea, not sure I would work on it myself, but I would definitely play it.
Quote from Notch, when asked what he thought of Spadge's custom server:
"It [Spadge's custom server] makes me cry."
Notch has said several times (on IRC, about 3-4 months ago, when custom servers were just starting to gain momentum) that he didn't like how custom servers were undermining his work and (no longer applicable) how they gave features that people were supposed to be paying for (survival mode) without his direct consent. He acknowledge they had a right to make custom servers and clients, but he does not appreciate them.

That doesn't make any sense.
