It's nowhere near done and I still have a lot of work to be done. So yeah, feel free to make silly arguments and fight over whether this is good or not.
As the name implies, I believe it to be TOO realistic. Some parts are good, but the utilization of real world photos looks silly, in my personal opinion. The flowers, mushrooms, and saplings are just goofy, and the real world tools on the workbench look out of place.
The cobblestone looks nice, but the halfblocks do not fit in with it, and look out of place.
In general, the textures should not be this realistic as it doesn't fit with the rest of the world of minecraft, they simply look out of place in the blocky architecture of our lovely cube.

Don't consider anything you see in these textures final unless I say "alright, these blocks are DONE". Also, even in default textures half blocks don't match stone.
Sorry, but it looks really bad. I can't say I like anything about it except maybe the doors. I don't understand how this is supposed to be realistic. The images you took off google don't go well together, and they tile badly. I hope you're going to actually draw everything out in the end. The cobblestone has some weird white circles in it, which you could have edited out from the google image. The dirt should be a bit lighter and the grass/ leaves are too radiant. It would look better if the wooden planks and bricks were bigger. 4 planks instead of 7 and maybe 5-7 brick rows instead of 11.
Frankly, everyone, the "it's too realistic" statements are unnecessary, and annoying. Constructive criticism is always a good thing, but it's not constructive if the criticism conflicts with the very intent of the project; Which clearly implies "too realistic".
I personally think the textures are gorgeous, even if 128x128 is a bit unfitting for Minecraft. I scaled them down to 64x64, and find them to blend in a bit better. I may go down to 32x32, but I'm not sure, they will most likely lose their charm.
Edit:
I take it back, it looks GREAT at 32x32. It's a nice balance between realism, and overall nice textures.
SMP, You've really outdone yourself!
THESE ARE AWESOME. Don't listen to the trolls, haters gonna hate. Please keep working on this, as it is freaking unbelievable.
Any word on code hacks to fix the texture space glitches such as water texture animations and flame animation positioning?
I also tried it with 32x32, and it still looks awesome. Personally I thought your old Realistic texture pack looked like **** to me, but this one, even at low resolution, looks awesome. I never use custom texture packs, but I think yours has made me.
I have made some modifications though. We all have our own tastes.
SMP, have you thought about bumping this up to 4096 res instead of the 2048? I know the flame texture would move to the grass tile instead of stone. While this current texture looks beyond ridiculously detailed, I'd be interested in seeing a mock up of the 4096 some day...
Also I have your snow updated texture file for v1.4, great job on the snow.
Is anyone working on a high-res Art, Gui, and Items file for this? How about high-res enemy textures? (inb4 high res creeper causing deification of masonry)

Just in case people forget, you need to patch a script to load this. Replacement here:

Sorry to break your rant apart, but he haven't even edited the workbench. it's still 16 x 16 low resolution.
Yeah, that was kind of my big moment here. Sorry for boasting.
...
Check again if I were you.

He has edited the workbench. Click the link.

Where do i place the files?
I just did. I opened my own terrain file, unmodified, and it had the same resolution and the same "tools" as in this pack, 2realistic.
he just changed the colors a bit.

Try redownloading SMP's pack.
I have the same question; Browser version or nay this png crashes my game
That's old, follow these instructions instead.
