Please keep in mind that this server is still a work in progress. It's not done being built, and no rules have been set in stone really.
Anyway:
The idea is fairly simple:
One person is the master of the game (Me for the time being). Essentially just watches over the game, and triggers events. (explained later).
Start of the game: Everyone begins as a 'human' in a small house in the forest. From there, they may go anywhere, explore the world in any way they want. Band together, go solo, choice is up to them. After however long, the master will alert the players that the game willstart soon (in some RP type way, giving some small non-essential back-story). Players are advised to find a secure place to hide from the randomly selected zombie. The master can select the zombie (or zombies) and place them deep in the forest. From there a long game of tag begins. Zombies try to find and tag others and turning them into zombies.
I plan to incorporate some kind of food or resource system to keep the suspense and action of the game up there, but for the time being, that will be the roll of the master. Let's say a group of survivors are hiding in a barn, they cant stay there forever, they'll eventually have to find a market to get food and such. Again: THESE ARE JUST IDEAS.
Of course this type of thing would be great with some kind of weapons against zombies... so for the time being, I was thinking of allowing humans to use bricks to temporarily block the paths of zombies? Tell me what you guys think?
If you'd like to get a first hand look at the map, search Caviano's zombie roleplay.
Awesomesauce, this sounds like something that would benefit dearly from custom server...
Can't wait to try it out. One question, to what extent can zombies destroy things?
Thats something that me and my ops are still trying to decide. We want there to be some sort of strategy aspect, and that would require construction and destruction. but its hard to have that aspect with the fear of grief. =\
REQUEST** if anyone could suggest a script that would suit the needs of a server like this, I'm all ears. Right now I'm using MinerCPP, but if theres anything better out there, please throw your suggestions out there. thanks!
**UPDATE**: As a result of a grueling test run, FOR NOW: these are some of the basic rules:
Humans: Use daytime to explore the level, find hiding spots/routes as well as markets/farms/ and wells to eat.
-The eating for now will be simply typing " /me (something RP-like here)".
- Not eating will cause you to starve. Resulting in death, and having to wait for the following night to respawn.
During night-time, humans are advised to hide from the zombies. This doesn't necessarily mean "camp"... it's most likely better to move around so you don't get stuck in a corner. Playing rolls could increase the fun of the game. While someone could be on a tower scouting, one person could run to the market and get food for everyone.. things like this.
Zombies: During day are locked away (punishment for dying)
First zombie selection: At random, but always the most isolated person. (stay together?) the back story being that the person got some infection, and no treatment... whatever.
Tagging:
For NOW... its mostly the honor system. If a zombie gets within 1 unit of you, you're tagged. He'll call it, you admit it. Since theres no hacking and everyone moves at the same pace with no weapons, how you tag takes a bit of strategy. Cut off others in alleyways, or stay on rooftops that are accessible. It's not impossible. (Not that its easy!)
Currently, there is no building or destroying of objects, to protect from grief. That being said, there is also no tunneling.
As the game updates, so will this server, keep that in mind since the game is in alpha, so technically is this server and its rules.
I was just joking around.
And i was explaining but the lag didnt let me type O_o.
So dude i love your server.
Please unban me
Its not like i griefed.
I just Did a glitch.
So I feel that the ban was unfair.
I love your server!
Caviano, I'm dearly sorry for not chasing the human dude as soon as I saw him. I was trying to make him approach me for I could infect him, I was trying to use "strategy". Please unban me I will be more zombie like/more serious.

Whale of a Tale!
Would I be able to use the map we've already created? Any information on that, is awesome.
