I'm not sure if it's something I did, or what, because it says the link isn't working.
I'm trying all I can to get the server back up and running, as it has crashed for whatever reason's. I'm trying to get in contact with an owner of the datacenter but they currently are sleeping or who knows what. So yeah, the server is offline, and it will be up soon. I will notify you once I retrieve SMP's texture packs so that you can still download them, or once the server gets back online. Sorry for the inconvenience, this rarely happens.
Sorry for such the long downtime. As of five minutes ago, the servers have been restored. It was a large scale datacenter outage, which is why it took so long for me to get it back up.
Anyways, its back up, and will be for a long time.
This is not dead. In fact, I update it frequently. So frequently I feel it's not worth the time to upload it. I've been skinning all the shiny new indev textures as they come out :biggrin.gif:. As soon as all the indev features are put into a final product, I will release a massive update. I may or may not update Willy Wonka and Wasteland for new textures, I haven't decided.
Oh yeah, and when I do release all that, I will move my site to www.seanmp.tumblr.com .
I cannot get the Realistic skin files into the minecraft.jar file. I come up with the following error message when I tried to drag the new files in: ! Cannot create __rzi_08.014 . I thought I had messed up the .jar file somehow, so I deleted it and loaded up /indev/ to get it back. /indev/ worked fine, but didn't replace the .jar file into the folder where it should have been...
If someone could upload the .jar file with the Realistic Texture Pack installed into it, then I (hopefully) would be able to use the new skin until the next update of /indev/.

You have to delete the entire indev folder, not just the minecraft.jar, otherwise the game won't redownload it.

I deleted the entire /indev/ folder, but it won't redownload it. It still plays normally, and solved the glitch that arose when I deleted minecraft.jar which messed with the shadows ( HERE is an image of the self-imposed glitch).
EDIT: I managed to get it to re-download, and I was able to get the files in when I used 7zip, rather than winRAR. It does look great.
EDIT2: The Terrain.png file doesn't entirely work on /indev/, so I modified it to fir the formatting for /indev/, supplementing the missing textures with the originals. HERE is the image. Some skins that should have transparencies may not work, but it makes the leaves on trees, plants, and other things visible as blocks. Seeds and wheat are also not included, so I will get to that when I can.
EDIT3: When I tried to use the above skin, it crashed my browser, but that may have been something else. Use it at your own risk...
Well, after 3 post updates, it seemed time to move onto a new post. I have an image of the terrain file that has transparencies that works on /indev/: HERE. I also uploaded the image of the items so you can see seeds and wheat and other things updated into /indev/ HERE. You can also replace the char file with your custom skin to be able to see it when you go to the items screen. Note that I am only talking about using this for /indev/. I have not tried this on the other modes, nor should you use these rather than the originals for survival or creative modes. Hope I could help.
[3/5/09 Updates]: I have added completely 'new' armors to the game. Instead of having the same design for iron/leather/diamond/gold armors, they each have a unique design. I have also redone all the mobs besides the spider. They didn't quite fit in with the new textures. More small tweaks to everything else really.
SMP, I really love your realistic texture mod, so I hope you don't mind I've added onto it. Full permission is yours of course, but I was so inspired by the way you made the armor of different materials all look different I changed the way items of different materials look too.
Now the tools and weapons will be more distinct between material grades.
They look something like this, and they'll even show up that way in-hand, not just in your inventory.
I tried to make gold look very decorative and ornamental, but not very useful. I also changes the wood and stone swords into clubs and hammers respectively, since neither material can really hold an edge.
Here's the item sheet for it, it's all you really need.
Thanks for all your hard work, SMP! Love the pack, very comprehensive.
Thanks. I saw you post this on SA too. I recently gave most of the weapons a unique look myself. I like what you did with the wood weapons. Would you mind if I took your hammer idea? I never thought of making the sword a different weapon. :wink.gif:
It could make libraries look much better.

Oh man, I was just trying this out earlier and was a little saddened that leaves were purple, and just like that it updates! That was good timing.
It's awesome, by the way.
Here's the updated pack (link is the same)

I updated terrain.png with new skins for the crops and redid some of the GUI menus.
Ponies.
Download SMP's Indev as of 3/5/2009 Here

And sure, knock yourself out with the weapon ideas. I'd like to see your take on alternate tools.
