ZomBuster wrote a nice little tool for generating pretty awesome looking terrain maps
I'm gonna write a nice little tutorial on how to get it working!
Step 1. Download the tool UPDATED
Download ZOMG v0.2a Filesmelt or Mediafire
Step 2. Run the ZOMG.exe file
It will process for a while, similar to the regular minecraft level generation. It takes a little longer though.
This will produce a single "level" file with no extension.
Step 3. Compress the File.
Use 7zip or a compression program of your choice to compress the file MLC.exe creates, it should be named "level"
Use "gzip" compression for this.
Step 4. Load the file with minecraft
Change the compressed file's extension from .gz to .mine and then select load file from the minecraft load menu
You can choose to leave it as .gz but then you need to change "Minecraft Levels" to "All files" in the Files of type field.
to
Then browse to where you saved your compressed level and voila! It should load without a hitch!
All credit goes to ZomBuster for this nifty little tool, my only criticism is the trees look a little lacking but thats no big deal.
I should note this is an unfinished version (altough I hardly finish anything) and I'm working on stuff like , user input, underground ores and caves, better trees etc.
Oh and maybe I can get compression working so you don't need to do it yourself. I'll post a thread soon(ish)!
Fix the random blocks that appear in mid air! Cool program though.
wow these maps are EPIC! I still havent gotten one as cool as in the screenie :/ i want to play on that one D: lol its perfect for making castles in the sky :tongue.gif:
I added a cave with a supply room (be careful, creepers tend to spawn in the TNT room.) and a safe house on top of one of the mountains :smile.gif: There is a cove-like area which mobs tend to spawn every few seconds so its a good place to camp out for points or something (there is a big hole near the middle of it. You don't want to fall in!) :biggrin.gif:
Thanks for the tutorial and the awesome generator :biggrin.gif:

HλLF A LIFE
(My works: Art, Music, MINECRAFT and other stuff)
This whole generator leads to some of the most epic fights in survival. Picture this:
I was perched at the top of an island, just under the skybox. I'd spent forever building stairs in the mountain up to it, and then constructing a large bridge. I admire the view. When I turn back, a group of skeletons have spawned on the bridge, and are running towards me, firing arrows. Cue epic fight. Time skip to, one skeleton left. I'm out of arrows, low on shrooms. I figure one more hit and it's done. I run up, and catch an arrow in the face, knocking me back. Off the island.
I had a lovely view of the stairs I built before I died, at least.

I think the same. I had a battle with zombies. I knocked two zombies off a huge hill, then got hit off my self. jumping in this map (off cliffs that is) is SO fun.
This is no generator, it just picks a random map from a list! We were tricked! its a hoax! I really liked this, but it's not a generator, it's a set of cool maps.

Contains Pachebel's Canon made with noteblocks, a working Rubik's cube made with pistons, and the ultimate TNT cannon.
Nothing happens when I load the file.Nevermind. Awesome!
EDIT2: How can I get this into a server_level.dat file?
as a last attempt to help: it IS a server_level.dat, just rename it to that.
Quality of output = Skill * Effort
I guess I should've thought of that...thanks.
Edit: nm. WOW....... AWESOME!!!!! Love the way this makes maps. I made one with A HUGE cliff. slick....

Use in combination, they do different things.

The maps looks amazing. Downloading the tool now.
That's right, I object.
here's a map I made on my copy of the Generator:
http://minecraft.net/play.jsp?user=sportsracer48&id=1
And here's the "awesome survival map" that KillAgain "generated"
http://minecraft.net/play.jsp?user=kilagain&id=2
notice anything similar?
