I have checked out the current map editors and to the best of my knowledge this is either unimplemented or impossible, but I would like to change a map's dimensions to something larger. I know it's unlikely that I'd be able to generate things in the newly opened space created, but I could add that myself manually with an editor and doing things in game. I have lots of work added to a current map and I don't really want to have to recreate all of it just for the benefit of a larger map if it can be avoided. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
You can do this by 'canvas resize' in photoshop or if your program doesn't have it simply make a new image with the
larger dimensions and paste the original layer into the middle of the image.
optional: This is a good time to learn how to batch process if you have photoshop.
3) Make a new map in OME with whatever new size you want. Import all the layers back in. Save.
I might bite the bullet and do it that way if I need to, but if there's a simpler way, or even someone working on that as a potential feature someways down the road on some editing program I'd be willing to wait before putting that effort into things. Building castles and things maxes out my tedious tolerance as it is.
skrylar's mapjack tool does the trick for boosting the map's height if that's all you want, but I haven't tested the newest version (whose link is broken but there, see the last post), and earlier versions turn "unknown" blocks which were later added (such as red flowers and gold blocks) to normal stone or air, as terrible as that is.
You also must know that the map's dimensions MUST all be some power of two, or else grass will not grow (or die), plants will not wither, sun will not shine, birds will not chirp, and Scout won't hurt people. And sea level is the center height of the map, so all of the blocks get shifted up half as far as the amount you add to the height, too.
Sorry for doing a HUGE bump to the thread, but how do you change the size in OMEN? I think I found the place where I do it, but I can't figure out how to change it, and I'm worried that I'll ruin the entire map.
Well, if you're afraid you might ruin the map, save a backup copy someplace on your computer.
I've never been able to change a map's size in Omen, though. All of my attempts failed.
It's easy, go to Edit > Map size and then just enter how much you want to add where. This might **** up the edge of the level though. You can fix this by exporting the entire map to layers, File > Export > Layers to PNGs (All), and then importing the entire map again, File > Import > Layers from PNGs (All). This does turn all half blocks into full blocks though so you have to manually fix that.
1) Load the map up in OME. Export every layer.
2) Resize the canvas to the new map size.

Good luck ... ...
Any help?

Yes, just enter a negative number when editing the map size.
