I have a flatgrass map, in 256x256x64 and 512x512x64 flavors. Both come in normal and "protected" versions. The protected ones have adminum blocking off the ocean from the sides to prevent flooding. Of course, an OP can delete them if need be. There are also two ocean maps, 256x256x64 and 512x512x64.
There is also my half flatgrass half ocean map from before, along with one where the flatgrass side is protected.
I also made an Ice World, so to speak. All water is replaced by glass, all grass and dirt replaced by white cloth, and all trees are "dead" (leaves removed). Lava is also solidified to rock. It's pretty neat to build in the "ice", actually.
There is also a Lava World. Obviously, all water is replaced by lava, and all grass replaced by "ash" (stone, meant to use grey cloth. oops.). The trees were also burned, by removing leaves, and replacing the wood with coal.
And last, there's a Sky/Island World kinda thing. I just made this one up. It's a bunch of floating islands in the sky, with water underneath. This one is 256x256x128.
Hope these prove to be useful to some people. If there are any requests/things that need to be fixed/stuff I really screwed up on, let me know.
Wow! These are excellent! It's sort of like the idea I had of the map generator prompting you with what type of map you wanted (mostly flat, lumpy, bumpy, like an island, mountainous...). (I didn't make a topic suggesting this idea because it may have already been suggested and I'm too lazy to search.) It would be cool if maps like these could be generated in single player.
But yeah, these are great. Can't wait to try them.
Great ideas! I've tried lava worlds myself, but I thought to use gravel instead of "ash." I think being able to see the water on the edges ruined it for me, though.
How do I use these? They appear to be smaller in file size, but I gave it a shot anyway but extracting it and using it as server_level.dat the server will say it's bad and generate its own level.
It'd be so much easier If it was all in one big .7z / .zip / .rar .............. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YJTQURPN
THERE YOU GO.
ALL OF THEM, ONE FILE.
Extract to ...\minecraft
Added bonus: I don't think there's a Mac port of 7zip
So, windows and linux users: ENJOY YOUR INSTANT NO EFFORT IN DOWNLOADING MAPS
Mac users: Unlucky. Get a better computer or turn it into a hackintosh.
Brilliant maps. Good job PuyoDead. =D

Sorry if I post in your thread once and never again, I forget who I have and haven't scrutinised.

Just drop the download itself into the server folder, and rename it to server_level.dat.
I'm not quite sure what you mean but I've tried pretty much everything I can. Any help?
When you download the server software the folder is named "minecraft-server". Save the file in there. The name is "server_level(XXXXXX).dat". Change that to "server_level.dat". This will only work if you have not ran "start-server.bat" before.

It still won't work, I tried re-downloading the server and no luck. Do I just open it with notepad and save it the the server folder?
Snowmaps are fun :smile.gif: I've been running my own just to mess around on. Because the default generation was too sharp at spots for my taste, I ended up generating a heightmap in pixelmator to use as snow map. I've already built a lodge on it and once I get port forwarding up I'll host a snow map semi-regularly.
