Otherwise try to get used to IDEs (Integrated Development Environments), and coding in Java, can't say for modelling items/blocks and so on so best to look for different programs that are good for that.
Many IDEs people will recommend are VSCode, IntelliJ and Eclipse. I've used IntelliJ and VSCode and had an alright time with them (VSCode more for stuff outside of Modding).
